Perhaps Shannon could find work at the Safety Plant, with Mrs. MacIntire as a mentor. A few co-workers, no direct customer contact. Use the Cutlass once it is repaired. A suggestion about stitching equipment.

Arguments like that ruin things for kids. 36 years old, and I still can't watch Willy wonka because of an insane toxic mess of a fight my parents had Ugh, seriously, at 36 that argument would still traumatize me. Love the story.
Mr. Snrub
ahhh my god I love this story so much
That Boy Lenin
“sit with legs crossed Indian-style” I don’t think Tabs would say this. Great chapter though, I love this freaking story.

The perfect way to start my Friday - Thankyou! It honestly breaks my heart about Joshua seeing who his parents are. Most children don’t start to see the flaws of their parents, that they’re human, until they’re slightly older. Children of addicts seem to see it sooner though

More like he’s blocking the paramedics telling them there’s no bullet hole.

Really hope Alan starts realizing how shortsighted he’s been. I get that he’s not fully equipped to handle his wife’s problems but he has to start thinking about what’s going on and trying to help. I get how it is better to do nothing than doing something wrong but that doesn’t make anything better. It just feels like a 🩹 on a bullet hole

Did her father slap her at the end?

Thank you for the chapter. Had to read it in secret at work but it was totally worth it.

The Mary Sue part worries me, I've been trying to illustrate Tabitha as someone who has the right answers here (mostly) but a lot of difficulty articulating them or dealing with confrontation period.

Damn fine work, chapter was raw as hell. A needed confrontation, hope it goes well for her though that ending leaves room for a the other shoe to drop.

I'm thinking it would seem a bit contrived for this to go directly to Mr. Moore "getting it". I'm thinking dropping into some all-is-lost period where he (at least internally) realizes that he's not been doing his job, that things aren't working, is needed. Postponing the realization (maybe even into the next chapter) about what the right thing is seems like an important beat to get the realism. That would set up for the next act being the internal debate or struggle between "I *am* a failure" (immutable present/future tense) and "I *failed*" (mutable past tense), where he questions both what he should do moving forward and if he even can do that. Clawing back from that to leading his family I think would be more rewarding (long run) than rushing the payoff. One other thing I'd like to see is him not just following the script that Tabitha just gave him. He needs to come up with (good) solutions that aren't what she would do and see (real) problems that she missed. He can't lead (which is what is needed) if she is always in front of him. Also, her being right all the time starts to edge towards becoming a Mary Sue.

No, next time is Gameboy time 😎😎😎

Loved it. The frustration, the communication, and hopefully some healing moving forward.

I really do hope dad looks up the arrest record and gets slapped into reality about how tabs had to become the only person who cared in their family.
Too Much Sanity May Be Madness
Poor Tabby. Hopefully her father listens and starts offering more than platitudes. I have to think that that's the direction this is going: that he seizes what could be his last chance to save the family... but it certainly still has the potential to go the other way.

Thanks for the chapter part boss!

Fantastic, truly gripping writing. I can't say this strongly enough ... even if I resorted to fucking expletives.

Ah, finally, the climax. The fight is on. Will we make it to kingdom building/slice of life, or watch as it becomes a tragedy? Tune in next time to find out!

Good! Please don’t make us wait until chapter 60j for him to begin to start doing, or be put out of the way.
