I think you’re thinking of Somalia. Rwanda had a genocide but there were no US troops there.

I would add South Africa to the easy list. Not sure if you've been but it's obviously the most well developed by far, and pretty accessible especially if you rent a car. Plenty of dangerous parts but they can be avoided easily. Beautiful nature.

Your video from the DRC was nightmare fuel, and while I've never particularly felt the need to go there to begin with, the little we saw from there was enough to seal the deal for me. That said, I've really enjoyed your videos from Africa, and have some new ideas for future trips for myself thanks to them!

Great advice, and your walk through your neighborhood on Long Island made me profoundly homesick. I rarely get back to "the Island" and always find the traffic and the incredible change to the business districts distracting. Your walk through those quiet suburban streets brought back happy memories of my younger days there. I can't wait for your next adventure.

Brother, your Congo and Eritrea videos made me sweat. If for nothing else, your safety. You are a brave man. I was born in Dakar, and my folks loved it in the 60's. After my folks divorced, in the 70's, my pops got posted to Chad, Liberia and a few other tough posts (State Department) and did his last few years in Togo. Not too bad. Have you ever visited Senegal Tommy? I am curious and would like to go visit one day. Bordain made a visit, but he did not as in depth as you do. Cheers!

Rwanda is in a special class of safe, Botswana should be reasonably safe also but apparently they still have phone snatchers and whatnot

Glad to see you safe, Tommy. The Congo video gave me a lot of stress and I wasn't even there. Rwanda used to be quite bad from what I remember with the US Marines getting dragged down the street.
