All fey catgirls are afab, yes. Shapeshifting magic exists, however, and many make use of it to acquire the body that best suits them. There are also cases of mortals seeking out witches to turn them into catgirls and the like, usually at the cost of a year or so of "apprenticeship". Alyssa might be a catgirl who sought out shapeshifting magic, or a mortal woman who did the same.
