Fire Update

I woke up this morning to the fire having become huge overnight. It's still about 4 miles North of our ranch, with a river between us. I still feel confident that the fire will not jump the Russian River, but if it does, we are on alert and will pack up all the horses and go. I spent the whole day flooding the property, getting things packed and giving the horses some extra love and oats to keep them calm. Horses are sensitive creatures and are naturally wary of smoke. After last weekends insane lightning storm of more 10,000 lighting bolts over 24 hrs, many fires started all around us. We are super lucky to be in a clearing in a canyon with steep redwood mountains on both sides of us. The redwoods are moist and breathe lots of fresh oxygen to help with this raining ash. Anyways, Im hopeful that the fire will pass by us tonight, and I can resume businesses as usual tomorrow! Even if it's another fire watch day, we did moist of our prepping today and I will be able to cut some time out to dance for you tomorrow =). Understood... Well wishes shall continue. A lot of people here in the Great Lakes region of the country are lucky to be spared from events like these. Then again, our REAL severe concerns are during the winter, but even then... I do pray that this fire subsides with the right conditions sooner rather than later.
