I think it's a combination of events. 1) Sees Aika's belly get too big and break her skirt. Becomes awed/shocked at the size of the girls gut and unable to stop talking about it for a while. 2) Observes the girl she wishes to befriend staring, entranced, as Aika's belly is grabbed.
