I totally agree with you. I hear all these people saying they feel bad for the kids, and having access to the, I totally get that part, but none of these people seem to think about the type of dad he was. No way someone this vile is a great father. Even if he wasn't an abusive piece of shit, which I sincerely doubt, his kids have to live with his legacy of hate, so at least that was cut short.

I get where your head is at, but they were just going to find another excuse. Last week it was the fact that a trans person shot up a school, even though they look the other way on the 90+% of shootings perpetrated by straight white boys and men. I mourn that we (collectively) have created a world where these things happen, but I will not mourn him.

Thank you for helping to put into words to all the very complex thoughts and feelings I’ve been having all afternoon. I saw someone else comment: “May Charlie’s god have mercy on his soul, and may he have the afterlife he deserves.” And that also puts into words some of what I’ve been feeling too. I keep hearing people say, "He was killed for having on opinion", and it's just such a dumbed down and ridiculous sentiment, it makes me feel crazy every time I hear it. A huge issue I have with this is the absolute green light it offers the right to come out and point fingers and say "SEE! the "LEFT" are the violent immoral psychopaths for "celebrating" the murder of this human being! It's the "left" who are the party of violence" It allows them to take a very much unearned moral high-ground and further exacerbates the political divide

He was an awful human being. I am not celebrating this by any means but neither am I sad. I have sympathy for the kids but not for him nor his wife. He was one of the fees he considered an unfortunate price to pay for the freedom of unfettered guns.

Super sad to hear about the vile, indefensible, politically motivated murder of Melissa Hortman and her family. You know, the ones Republicans joked about and completely brushed aside. Or the brutal assault of Paul Pelosi, whose attacker received the full throated support of, let’s see… oh yeah. Charlie Kirk. I will never support initiative violence; there are plenty of people I disagree with on 90% of shit who I’d hate to see hurt in any way. Fascism is an inherently violent ideology. I, 1. Hate that this happened, no one deserves this, and 2. Don’t think it’s ok to paint someone in a different light, just because they are dead. People are who they are, and a tragic death doesn’t change that. Did he deserve to be murdered in cold blood? No. Was he a great man who stood for others? No. Two things can be true at the same time. His death was tragic, that doesn’t mean we forget all the hatred he spread throughout his life.

Also? Random thought here, should indigenous people get to use stand your ground laws, literally wherever they stand? Like, if an indigenous person in Utah shot him because they felt threatened on their land, shouldn’t that be able to hold up in court? It is all actually stolen land.
