No it didn’t circle dance, but that’s handy to know for the future. This bird was just shimmying in a happy looking manner. I sat still and kept a lookout for the cat. After the bird flew off I put a little bowl of water up on the fence as a makeshift birdbath separate from the cat water bowl. I just want all of the neighboring wildlife to feel welcome on my porch. 💗

I haz bird feeder, but I live in the city so my visitors are 99% house sparrows (or as my wife refers to them, "LBJs" - little brown jobs).

Yeah, they like the ground don't they? They were hiding in the hedge and running out to steal seeds from the ground when they built up enough confidence

How sweet! Do your juncos eat directly on the feeder? All of mine tend to scrounge around on the ground instead. 😅

The other day I put out a bowl of water for a stray cat. This morning I saw a bird taking a bath in the bowl. Now I’m worried I’ve been offering the strays the promise of bird soup rather than water.
