I started this comic as a plein-air painting (outside, on location), and the third frame of the jewelwing standing motionless is mostly what I was able to do before a light rain began to fall. I think I'll start doing this more as a form of practice to become faster at making comics and to get a more organic feeling of a setting.

I really love the third panel indeed. Alone, it looks ao peaceful.

They work really well together, you can get some impressionistic looks with gouache but keep the sharp lines with watercolor. For a water scene, that’s perfect.

Mix of the two! I used a limited set of four colours, some watercolour, some gouache, and white gouache. When mixed with white, watercolour paint is essentially the same thing as gouache. The two media work perfectly together! Wet wash for background, more opaque for foreground. :)

Is that gouache, or dry brush watercolor?
