Kneesvember Day 30!!! (The Finale)
🕑 Added 2023-12-01 03:40:33 +0000 UTC

Thank you for reading and thank you so very much for all of your wonderful comments! I didn't reply much all month (and there were a few days in the middle that I avoided the comment section altogether), but I appreciate all the love and enthusiasm you've given to this story!
I know I said yesterday that I would write a bit about my perspective on kneesvember, but I think I'll postpone that for a couple days because it is maybe a little too soon and the hot chocolate Mélodie made me is apparently at the perfect drinking temperature right now.
Much love,
Joshua

This was one of the best series I’ve ever read, can’t wait for the book. Gifting it to every artist I know.
NicolleFR
From what I remember the heron and crow (though our crows are different to yours) and then there is the barn owl which we get over here but are far less prolific! I'd love a comic set in the UK though, especially if it covered out Corvids (my favourite family!)
Sandy Kavanaugh, of Hens' Haven.
I finally got to see the finale! Bravo!
kl
I would love to know if you saw any birds you recognized, or that looked familiar to your local birds.
Sean Gallagher
Loooooooved this whole series. And also, the oriole is the perfect partner, given the way they weave nests. :D
NicolleFR
Thank you! I'm British so I don't know much about NA birds!
kl
Wait, not elm, but cottonwood?
kl
It seems likely to be a Baltimore oriole. ♥️
NicolleFR
I'm dying to know what kind of bird the little one is! I did some searching to try and find out myself, focusing on NA birds (knowing that's your location, I assumed that's where it was set), but none of the ones that came up seemed to match!
kl
I look forward to hearing you tell us about the new creation hung up on the barn, in place of the skull. 😄
Hannah Blackstone
A wonderful story with a magical use of color
Stephanie

I love this story and look forward to sharing it with others. Great work! Today's panels remind me of hanafuda (Japanese playing cards).
Holly Lynn Walker
And that last panel should definitely be a print. It has so much hope and inspiration in it.
Holly Lynn Walker
I looked forward to these every day. What a beautiful story. I know from reading the comments that your audience felt alongside and related to the many emotions of your little owl. This is a lot of work. So thank you for all your hard work over the month. ❤️
Stacy Surla
This is a masterpiece. Being able to look forward to the daily installment has helped me through a difficult month. Thank you! Take as long a rest as you need now! (But hopefully not too long)
Leslie

Joshua, thank you for a beautiful kneesvember. I look forward to holding the book in my hands and rereading the story
kl
Oh gosh, the plants in this one, too! From top to bottom, they remind me of milkweed, jewelweed, and maybe an elm tree…? What do others see?
Irene Roga
Glad to see that even Myrtle has a new partner (that I'll call Margriet). Thanks a lot for making this comic, you made my sun shine every morning with this story ♥♥♥
Aren
This was amazing, just like Spores. You have a rare gift for visual storytelling ☺️
Aurellie
I felt for Barnie and the story all the time, but the panel with Myrtle and the friend birb was the first time I was tearing up ❤️ The story is perfect through and through. Thank you so much for it. And I need a "What shall I make today" print.
Nay
This was beautiful. I didn’t cry, though, not at all 🥲
Aike
The tadpoles in the nest☺️ Congratulations on this wonderful story! It was a great gift to read it every day.
Holly Neilson
I have to say too that same thing has happened with Hop! and Spores… it’s truly remarkable. There’s such subtlety and warmth in your work. Thank you for doing these long-form stories ! ❤️🦉❤️
Holly Neilson
I didn’t realize how engaged I’d become until that last panel…. I had this real rush of emotion that Ms Barnie looked so fulfilled and content. Who knew an owl could smile??
Melsa Hvarei
That was such an absolutely lovely story. Thank you so much!
Lopaka
Also thanks to Barnie for it's creativity.
Lopaka
Like the tadpoles in the frog's nest. Thanks for your creativity.

Dear Joshua, In a world where human things feels too fast, where people and art rarely have space and time to take space and time, and where appreciations of simplicity rarely feel authentic, you've told story that feels at once gentle powerful. While I always receive and open my patreon emails of your comics with gusto and curious enthusiasm, this month I did so with a kind of intensity that was well met with something that felt, on the whole, more vulnerable and deeply personal. Don't get me wrong. I'm still looking forward to crows breaking rules, but I hope you keep exploring some of the new things you were touching on in here too. I'm glad that you're out there making these. It feels important. Thank you.
Cinzia Floris
Do humans have nests? I think I'll need one from now on!
Sandy Kavanaugh, of Hens' Haven.
Pray or sacrifice to your muse, Joshua! She's earned it it. And the finale is perfect.

Oh gosh, I love the scene with the friend birb sleeping in a birb hammock 🥰🥰
Elizabeth T
Well done and a well-deserved break! I think after the Hurl incident I’m sure the comments were questioning where the story was going, but we trust you to tell a beautiful tale no matter what the outcome and you’ve spun/woven such a beautiful story! Out of destruction comes new beginnings and I am here for it!

Can't believe I got the treat of TWO false knees stories this fall!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Jessica K
Amazing, the bird sticker sheet was one of the first things I bought from the false knees store and the barn owl has been on my laptop ever since. So happy that there was a full story made about an owl, thank you for kneesvember ♥

It's so nice to find a soulmate willing to inhabit the same world.
Madeleine E Guekguezian
Such a beautiful story, and the two-tone palette really gives it a lot of character and helped me get into the visual detail of it all
