Given the RBA is stacked with Liberal adjacent figures, that doesn't seem like a crazy theory at all. One thing is for certain, the ALP need to gut the RBA urgently and reshape it to align more with their vision for the future.

Question for Ali and probably Jordies too. After reading Jim Chalmers essay the other week I’ve been reading up on the politics of monetary theory and central banks (stuff from Yanis Varofakis, Adam Tooze etc). It’s been making me increasingly nervous about Philip Lowe and the RBA at the moment. Do you think there’s a possibility they might go all out on engineering a recession in Aus to hurt Labor’s future election chances? Especially with Chalmers openly talking about reforms of the RBA structure, it might make the RBA feel threatened enough to do such a thing. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts

Misadventures needs theme music. I’m thinking of something like ‘classic misadventures, time to hit the road’ (to the tune of All Aussie Adventures)
