As you discussed this in the podcast, the -"abad" suffix at the end of locations across the Indian Subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan) and cities, such as Islamabad or Hyderabad etc. are derived from Persian and means a place of city? "hyder" means lions, and the -abad means city of location, so Hyderabad means city of lions.
