Updates on Matabar
🕑 Added 2024-12-16 19:02:36 +0000 UTCHere are the latest updates: with a high degree of likelihood, an additional 10 chapters will begin releasing at the end of January.
There will be two tiers in total:
The first tier is a $1 support level—no additional perks beyond access to a Discord server, which will be created later.
The second tier, the current $2 one, will be removed.
The third and, ultimately, the only tier will increase from $4 to $10. I understand that this is more than double the previous amount, but at any lower price I simply won’t have the means to continue working on Matabar. As compensation, for the first two months of the Patreon’s existence for Matabar (February and March), the Patreon release schedule will feature two chapters per week—Tuesdays and Fridays. On Royal Road, over those same two months, the schedule will remain one chapter per week on Fridays.
Thus, by the end of March, the gap will grow not to 10, but to 18 chapters.
I will raise the prices after posting the additional chapters, so that those currently subscribed at $4 can enjoy a discount for the first month, since their price changes won’t take effect until their next billing in February.
Those are the updates.
Yours always,
Kirill Klevanski

It’s not a lot and if it is a lot to you then You shouldn’t be wasting it on early access chapters.

Speak for yourself. 6 dollars is a lot.

It’s 6 more dollars a month people. That’s a cup of coffee for a one off a kind story you will enjoy and look forward to every week. He was priced ridiculously cheap to start. I’m assuming that was since he was just translating his already written books. Now he’s actually writing so it makes sense.

If it was $5 a month (instead of $10) you would most likely get much more people subscribing than if it remains at $10. Just saying, I understand you need funding but setting the initial price so high will most likely result in backlash and not as many patreon subscribers than a lower alternative ($5). Edit: On a personal note, if it was around $5, I would get it. Conversely, if it is $10 a month I would most likely just stick out the one chapter a week (unless it gets to an otherwise exciting part of the book lol). $5-7 would be my advice, I don’t think people would look too kindly to double digit prices.

We have never been 10 chapters ahead on patreon tho, alteast not recently, and i understand he had an injury and everything, but that doesn't change the fact that this seems greedy

Exactly, I can justify 4/5 dollars a month, but for 10 dollars a month i might as well just buy a book every month and then read matabar when it's done in a few years from now

The only thing I don't like about this is that it sounds like it is either 10 dollars or fuck off. What's wrong with a 5 dollar option with like 2 to 5 chapters ahead? For people who would like to support you and read a bit more of your book but don't have 10 dollars a month for a single story?

Doesn't this pretty much cover that concern? By the time the price raises we'll be 14 chapters ahead of Royal Road. $4 for 10 chapters ahead when each individual chapter is so big never really made a lot of sense, to be honest.

While i deeply appreciate the matabar books, i think this is a bit unfair for patreons who have been subscribed to a higher tier for a while without getting additional content, upping the price immediately on your return to patreon seems a bit greedy.
