Nùmenor

Great insight. I agree completely.

Monocle, the tess split has already been foreshadowed. I think mainly because ard will arrive to the conclusion that his activities are a danger to her. And she has no political not personal protection in place.

Well said. LiteWvr

Interesting. Yea tess is cooked. Ive been saying this tess leaving ard is inevitable. Mainly because she will be targeted and Ard would feel guilty that it happened because of him and break it off.

Nikolaus Sheehan

I'm thinking placeholder to make sure the name is correct.

Aaaaard you can't just abandon Tess like that. At least tell her where you're going.

I really wasn't a fan of this chapter. Feels like a random side quest. I think that the mini interaction with Tess made it significantly worse. My interest in the Tess storyline is dramatically higher than this side adventure. Therefore, I couldn't stop thinking about what the fallout with Tess would be while they were going to mansion hills.

Mate I get you have criticisms but you have to divorce yourself from the character. Ardi has been well known to be self-sabatogingly kind. Why can't he be broke? His income is 1. A one time bribe. 2. A stipend from a government agency spoken to underpay their workers. 3. A handful of change from a single spell. Alchemy is hinted to be a good money maker, but Ardi has his hands full and then some. Finally yeah he probably could kick the third years to the curb and back but he's also been shown to not know his own strength. He nearly blasted Kerimov to the moon on complete accident, not even counting his green star, yet is still deluding himself with oh it was luck. Which is extremely human. Ardi's character so far could be summed up by an old man going "he's a good kid". Old-fashioned, compassionate to a fault, and pretty dumb in spite of his genius. Frankly man I think you signed on for a different story than the one your getting. I'd guess (just a guess) you want more of protag gets OP by deep diving into seals, with slice of life with Tess. Whereas this story is more mystery/thriller. And it's probably going to continue that way, sorry man.

Another unnecessary plot deviation shoehorned in! There is no reason for Ard to still be broke. There is no reason he should not be able to kick the asses of any third year at the school considering his background. There is no reason he should go anywhere with a guy he barely knows after what he has just been through. Ard should be able to smell wounds and he knew the fun wasn’t loaded, so why is he sweating? If he is so pathetically broke all the time and whining about his clothes why is he helping a POS he barely knows with his supplies. This was absolutely least favorite chapter to date.

It would be a rather annoying cliche. There’s no reason for him not to give warning or tell the truth. It’s almost manufactured drama

I really enjoy the part were Ard works with the second chancery, but this out of nowhere adventure and him ignoring tess invite seems odd.

Beeees!

Poor tess, falling in love with a boy who's got fingers in way to many bear traps

As I typically start my comments, thank you for the chapter. Additionally while I always find that people don't care when others announce this, I will stop reading this novel once this patreon cycle ends. As such, I would like to go further to thank the author for such an amazing story. While I no longer find the sudden plot shift into another random high stakes adventure as jarring, it is still disappointing. The author takes the care to craft this amazing and detailed world, yet can't keep a natural flow to the story. The flow feels like it's constantly disrupted by these intrusive misadventures that Ard is basically dragged into simply to further the narrative. I ended up skimming the rest of the chapter after Ard was dragged away without any reasonable interaction with Tess. He has been written to always focus on family and being a protector. However, he doesn't even spare time for an explanation? The little things like this create plot holes that completely disrupt cohesion and break immersion in the story. Nevertheless, I'll end the comment as I began it. Thank you for the amazing story, and I hope you continue to craft a wonderful world for all the readers.

Monocle

I hope this doesn't spiral into a split between them

Femboy

The information network in this world is cooked. How does everyone and their mom know every detail about ard, and more importantly, why they even care.

Monocle

He should have told Tess he was busy

The Human

Same but even if he feels he can't, to not even knock? Messed up to do to someone you respect at all

Adunn

Fr. Honestly I would have bailed on Peter and told him to wait a day.

The Human

Pretty upsetting he didn't even warn her after she said she'd wait up for him

The Human

Tess :(

John

Thanks!

Dawid Mitura

What's with this line here? " Ardan had first heard of at the Grand````````````: products of Star Magic "

TeDureShi

Ahh Peter. Should’ve guessed that

Jennings

Bro should have just gone to Tess’s place. Would’ve had a much more… enjoyable evening
