It is a redone and refined version of what was presented in my lab notes on making sodium nitrite, so maybe i shouldn't post this if the lab notes are good enough?
On a different note, the isopropyl nitrite will be used as a precursor to other compounds, is isopropyl nitrite interesting enough to stand on its own or should i hold it until i get around to those other compounds?

You don't actually need sulfuric acid to make fuming nitric acid, I show in my nitric acid purification video that you can also use magnesium nitrate. Sulfuric acid is easier, but not absolutely necessary.

Very nice video. Unfortunately, it may be as difficult to source sulphuric acid (to make the fuming nitric acid) as it is to source sodium nitrite (in the EU at least), which pretty much defeats the purpose of the experiment. Maybe a video on how to make nitrite from nitrate would be useful? But that’s not easy to achieve. Also, is there a way to isolate and recycle the sulphuric acid generated as a by-product? Finally, I suppose the isopropyl nitrite obtained must be washed with a sodium bicarbonate solution to neutralise acidic contaminants, then again with water, then distilled and dried?
