The Voyager popcorn! They had it in Houston too. I came home from school, and I was hungry and popped the popcorn. Then I looked at the bag and it said “Watch the premiere of Star Trek: Voyager tonight on UPN”. So I did, lol. I remember watching the opening crawl of Caretaker and not understanding what they were talking about (Maquis? Cardassian?) I was concerned that I wouldn’t know what was going on. But by the end of the episode, Voyager was in an unexplored region of space where they didn’t know anything either. So I was able to start my Star Trek journey with Voyager. Now I’ve watched countless of hours of Star Trek and am a huge fan. I’ve rewatched multiple series more times than I can remember. I’ve been to the Vegas experience and more. Star Trek has had such a positive impact on my life. And all because of a bag of popcorn! 🍿☄️🪐 (I also love popcorn too).

My dad was in the Army and stationed in Germany from 1998-2001. Voyager was one of the few shows that the American Forces Network (the American television channel for soldiers stationed in Europe) provided. I remember watching it on Friday nights when we lived there and it was the first Star Trek show I actually liked (my parents used to watch TNG when I was a kid and I hated it 😂). Now when I watch it it brings back such fond memories and it's like eating comfort food. It's not even so much about the stories of each episode but about the cast. It's a show I'll keep watching over and over.

In the opening part, when Garrett was talking about the podcast spreading and being special to people, it reminded me of a line from TOS which was used in one of the Star Trek home video ads, where Kirk says "A dream that became a reality, and spread throughout the stars", which I think works for TDF too.

I missed the end of podcast episode with Tom and Harry. I guess that I am spoiled. 😐

I remember sitting down to watch the Voyager premiere…..and no local TV station covered it on cable. We couldn’t watch Voyager in Lancaster, PA. It was one of maybe 2 times I called someone in protest to complain about something. Then they started playing it Sunday nights at like 11pm or something, so I’d have to wait like 10 days after each episode premiered and then record it onto VHS to watch it and I think it wasn’t until season 2 that a local station carried UPN on its premiere night. How things have changed. Thanks guys for doing this podcast. It’s been an awesome journey. 🥳
