This is one of my least favorite episodes because of all the questions that Robbie brought up, and others. Am I the only one to think that Kira would have doubted the surgery at the very beginning? Like pull on the neck and the forehead to make sure that they were real? I know because they were NOT real that Nana couldn't do this, but as a character I thought Kira would have been more vehemently in denial. Like, people who wake up after surgery reach for their missing leg or altered face or whatever. This episode just always felt like "dress up" rather than serious. Plus, as I think Garrett said, this was a LOT of work to do to try to get at the one guy. It seemed way too fake. Nana did a great job on it, but I just didn't like the plot.

I can totally understand that perspective, but for me what makes me really love Delta Flyers, and sets it apart from other similar podcasts where castmembers of TV shows revisit episodes, is that they do look at episodes with a critical (as in analytical) eye. I feel like it gives me so much more insight into the show/television in general, even if I don't necessarily agree with every criticism (or praise!) that they give.

Ria

I appreciate it too, Kira means so much to me that it's always wonderful getting to hear from Nana.

Maybe I missed it as I was multi tasking but everyone kept commenting on Ari. Did anyone recognize it was Billy Burke? I can’t remember if it was mentioned lol. He’s kind of a big deal. πŸ˜†

I love Lower Decks too, and thought Garrett did a wonderful job with all the Harry Kims!

I very much appreciated Terry reigning in the lads re the nitpick department! Whilst I think Garrett is often being lighthearted, Robbie (and Armin) - well, not so much… I do enjoy alternative ideas, but it can start to feel somewhat negative at times. Additionally, the goal never was to brainwash Kira. That would have undermined the Obsidian Order’s attempts to incriminate Ghemor. I felt that, on seeing β€œevidence” that the real Kira was dead, she then started to doubt herself but wanted to hide that, hence her reaction.

Just watched LDs. SO GOOD. I was seriously hoping for Jadzia, but yeah, maybe next week??? The fact that there's only one more ep of LDs makes me supremely sad.

Yes, this was an amazing performance from Nana. And I love that she's become a DF regular, because Kira was my favorite DS9 character from the day the show premiered. I love hearing from her.

On top of a great podcast, I'd just like to say that Garrett did a wonderful job on Lower Decks. Perhaps there could be a bonus episode where Garrett, Robert and Armin talk about their experiences on Lower Decks (I'm still hoping for a surprise Terry appearance in the final episode).

Ok, more thoughts after listening. 1. Nana is so awesome! I have always been Team Kira. 2. Yes, please, can we have as much Nana as possible on Delta Flyers? 3. I too believe VOY suffered by being episodic vs serial. It was *very* frustrating as a fan, too, that there was such amnesia on that series. I love VOY a lot but the DS9 story is so much more satisfying overall. 4. Chronically single woman here and very happy that I have no one to clean up after except myself and my cats, but I wouldn't say no to a Delta Flyers matchmaking service. Trekkies are my type, but very hard to find in the wild. 😁

So glad I became a patron. This stuff is gold. Thanks guys!

I'm glad someone asked about the cat memory, that was curious for me as well. My bigger question is about Kira's voice - not only did they have to find someone who looked like Iliana (enough that they could manipulate the looks with plastic surgery), but also someone who sounded exactly like her so Ghamor would recognize her voice. That was the most implausible part, IMHO. I would think a DNA scan would have answered all questions, but if Kira or Ghamor had thought to do one we wouldn't have had a story.

Guys remember Cardassia is ruled by the Military the use of Legate in this context is referring to the older Military meaning in Ancient Rome.

I appreciate Nana coming on for the interview. I mean it really means so much to me. I also cried from her performance. The story really got me. When she breaks that mirror she literally broke my heart. Emmy worthy performance I think.

Elisabeth Westner

Good enough for me! Coordinating schedules is so hard, I appreciate the effort!

Garrett

We did try, just could not make schedules work. Nana was on a well deserved vacation and no matter how we tried to work the schedule we couldn't make it happen. But she is on for a short interview. It's the best we could do.

This talk about hitting marks just reminded me of something. In the pre-credits sequence of the pilot, right after Sisko retrieves Jake and they look out the window at DS9 for the first time, I've always felt that Avery Brooks really obviously looks for his mark on the floor as they approach. Makes sense because I'm not sure how many fx shots he had been involved in up to that point. Always wanted to ask about that.

Gary Alexander

Legate is a Roman rank, it was a senior (usually but not always military) officer. Some Roman terms persist in the Catholic Church, owing to its eventual integration with the Roman state.

Elisabeth Westner

Aww, yeah, was hoping Nana would be on for this one. Can't wait to hear it!
