Missed opportunity with the manhole cover: "Dax has old man strength"

Oh, that maths makes so much more sense than the Hollywood lucky guess on the last possible try!

I love how Terry calls Garrett Gawa🥰

Andrew Cano

Bummer about Jonathan Frakes not getting that crane shot of the 150 extras. Would have enhanced an already impactful scene tremendously.

The terrific episode I remember Robert referencing when making that comment, "The Wire," becomes even more poignant when viewed in the light of his family history. I wonder whether Andy Robinson and Robert Hewitt Wolfe ever had a discussion about playing and writing for Garak as a character.

Trevor Yan

Agreed. He was a fantastic guest, and also hope he returns!

It was refreshing to have Robert Hewitt Wolfe’s perspective on this great two part episode of DS9. I hope he can return where appropriate. Thanks for two great back to back podcasts.

sgtb99

Thank you for the explanation.

Garrett

In accordance with our rules we do not allow devaluing of any of our hosts. Disagreeing with someone's perspective is fine, comparing them to others as being less enjoyable is not.

sgtb99

Sadly, what we are now experiencing is the antithesis of the golden rule.

2024 is in the 21st century.

My comment was deleted…interesting.

Clint Howard also appeared in several Star Trek shows over the decades. Most recently Strange New Worlds.

DS9 character arcs are the best!

> The math nerd in me thinks O'Brien could have done a way better job of optimizing the jumps - start in the middle, see if they can tell if anything has changed, that might eliminate half of the possibilities, etc. They could have solved that with different numbers and a different explanation of their strategy. Or instead, you know, keep it like it is and give us nerds something to talk about... > Much more importantly, I was really touched by the broadcasting of people's stories. Imagine if we heard from all the people who are directly affected by government actions, if they could be seen as human beings by everybody, if we could picture ourselves in their shoes.

Systemic racism is very much still with us. I thought that was sadly a great line for Sisko.

That might be a good idea for a bonus. But instead of Armin or Terry contributing on the episodes they aren't on maybe they could record a small 5 minutes or less in character!! Like what does Quark and/or Jadzia think?!

Joshua Hooker

Agreed, the writers made the same mistake we all do, having far too much faith that humans are good. I wish we really were in Bell Riot Days. It would mean people still care about other people. Love your picture BTW. Everything has gotten far too silly. 😁

Kinda just slid over robert Hewitt wolf talking about his dad being a closeted queer man. Huge props to RHW for facing that truth. So many of our fathers and grandfathers were like that but had no one safe to be themselves with. Or possibly didn't even know or accept themselves. One of the great untold tragedies of living under repression. I hope he was able to find some peace. Hiding who you truly are takes a massive toll on your soul or spirit or ka or whatever you want to call it. We are approaching another time like that very soon here in the U.S. and I hope that we can weather this storm better than our ancestors did. Everyone is much more open about life now so finding someone safe to listen will hopefully be easier. Just subbed to the patreon last week and very glad I did. All the love from Las Vegas.

If anything, in comparison with 2024 the episode isn't grim enough. Nothing about the present suggests the police killing one Black man would inspire change, nor that media/tech moguls would be sympathetic to protesters. Which isn't a criticism of the writing, just a commentary on how bad things are.

Andrew McKinley

Another great episode. Robert Hewitt Wolfe contributed some excellent insights and behind the scene info. Though I completely get why Terry is on both episodes it's a shame that we don't get to hear Armin's on this story as I think he'd have some interesting thoughts.

Trevor Yan

Looking forward to listening in this week!
