I'm right there with you, not a fan of the Mirror Universe stories. I agreed with the gang that said this episode had the potential to be awesome ("My dead wife is alive in this universe!!") but it wasn't played for that at all and was a disappointment to me. I remember there is atleast one more episode, and like this one, I like the idea, but I don't remember if I liked the execution (pardon the pun) .

Loved the pod, and quite enjoyed this episode, but in general, I feel I am the only one that doesn’t like mirror universe episodes across the whole franchise. All ST requires a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, but mirror pushes me too hard. Btw…. Was Tuvok in this, did they say? I entirely missed it 🤣🤣

I think Mirror Harry Kim would just be Lt. Harry Kim from Lower Decks. In fact, Lt. probably *was* Mirror Harry.

I have to say I’m totally aligned with Terry and Robby about their assessment of the episode. In recalling it, I would’ve put it as a mid 7 rating but in re-watching it so many parts just failed to land with me emotionally.

I like to think mirror Janeway is a cold-hearted pirate captain much like mirror Sisko was, and she's ruthlessly fighting to establish a tyrannical monopoly on all the coffee in the quadrant

About Sisko leading everyone to the ore refinery and starting a self destruct program from there... am I the only one who thought that was a callback to Civil Defense, and Sisko used Dukat's counterinsurgency program to start the self destruct?

I didn’t think of the whole consent thing too. I agree that was not a good reflection of Sisko’s character. They should have made it a bigger dilemma.

There are parts of this episode I like. However, to me, its legacy is the ruining of the Mirror Universe concept. From this point on, it seems it’s easier to cross universes than it is to travel to Risa and the episodes become little more than excuses to see different versions of characters. This is made worse in Discovery (Spoiler: I’ll rant about what that show did to Section 31 when we get there…).

[Edited for clarification] This plot point is problematic for me. The writing and acting should have conveyed these actions as ethically challenging for Sisko but necessary to fulfill the mission (almost a foreshadowing of “In the Pale Moonlight”). Unfortunately, it comes across as Sisko enjoying things a bit too much. With Jadzia, in particular, Avery Brook’s performance gives the impression that Sisko finally has an excuse to indulge a fantasy. And let’s not even get into the lack of consent from either woman, both of whom think they are with Mirror Sisko.

I still can’t believe it’s never addressed how Sisko deals with having slept with people in his life. It’s a big thing. They also could have had an amazing scene where the actual Dax finds out, and it could have been so funny as she could ask him about it.
