That would be a very interesting trajectory for the narrative to take. The idea of Ashley participating at a tournament and getting injured, would be a fascinating mirror to Jacob at the beginning, maybe even act as the final break of their own marriage. I think however most of the women have been with Carlos or consent to covering for those that decide to be with him. The woman in Chapter 2 I believe? She states that Carlos has a reputation, so the subtext is there. I could be wrong of course. But, I think this chapter was a sledgehammer emotionally, and that is a real triumph. However, with your thoughts about Carlos leaving her, I don't think that's impossible. It depends, he is within her in body, mind, and now heart. He could however, find her disposable when the next woman comes along. Tough to say.

I enjoy your writing but in all honesty the only reason I'm here is for tbt. IMHO Ashley needs to feel so over confident in what shit she's doing that Jacob goes to surprise her at the girls night out only to find no one there, then goes to the studio only to find it closed, and he just goes home to drink and pas out. Then have Ashley, all full of her over confidence, go to a tournament and get seriously injured and then have to try to explain why she lied. If ever there was a reason for a btb story, this is it. Jacob needs to find a consoling friend in one of the other girls from the class who Ashley used as a lie ... who then become lovers and leave Ashley behind and Carlos dumps her because she's really not that good in the Ju Jit Su and he just wanted an illicit affair.
