Late to this but really gotta recommend the Infinite Review for great comedic video essay channels, equally funny, thoughtful and well researched. Yours and his are the only 2 channels that i'll click immediately when they pop up in the subs box!

SORRY I am cutting myself off from commenting after this, but I have been back listening to the check ins while I work today. Im a designer and illustrator, and I think that youre right, that what ppl usually bring up in terms of AI art doesnt really get at the actual problem. I think generative art is interesting and freaky and its own thing. I think the issue is primarily that the mega corporations that have the resources to develop this technology, are going to (and are already) using it as a loophole to enact further wage theft. I think this is sometimes what ppl mean when they say "taking jobs from people", but thats not really the whole picture. ultimately its this: corporations are not people, and treating them like people historically has meant horrible things for the rights of workers. generative art, youre right it just like a person making art and taking things. but if we give corporations the power to do that indiscriminately and ultra efficiently via this ai loophole they will basically just use it to depreciate the value and power of the worker.

Can I suggest a moment in history or whatever it's called? From the Majora's Mask (again) video, time 9:09 - 9:13.

Austin's Question: by your next check-in I need to have swapped engines in my Nova. I inherited a 1973 Chevy Nova from my uncle, and he wanted a 400 small block in it. I built one from scratch for my first time with my dad, and still haven't swapped it after 2 years. The engine is finally done though, and it should only take a few days for me to do, so I need to be held accountable for finishing the job. RIP uncle stevie
