The renowned science-ficiton author Isaac Asimov was a biochemist by training. In 1963 he wrote "The Human Body: Its Structure and Operation", which became a popular text for anatomy units in high-school level biology classes. A few years later he collaborated on this film and wrote the novelization that went with it. The film was, essentially, a way of showing audiences what some internal human anatomy looked like. If you think back on all the structure and function that is described and shown in the film, it's actually quite educational.
