Thundermike00

Wait so blobbed helped fused the two personalities back together and now instead of floating in the natal palace rain is able to use the water power instead?

Alan McBrayer

Blobby seems more like a force of nature instead of a sentient creature. So it probably couldn't tell the difference between a defiled soul and an almost defiled portion of a soul.

Dmitriy Zaslavsky

New person as combination of both.

Cole Mathews

Hmmm. So does this mean that Rain is now back and Baledagh is gone, or both are gone and this new person is a combination of both?

It'll be explained more in 325, but if you go back to his first awakening with Akanai, you'll see that Baledagh (then unnamed) went comatose after the awakening. Now, think about when he wakes up next, on the morning of the Society Trials, exactly when Rain needed him most.

Aaron Martinez

"This allowed you to continue harbouring those dark thoughts without acting upon them, rationalizing it as thoughts belonging to someone other than yourself, but your first Awakening showed you the truth. Hiding will do you no good." - Monk Wait, first Awakening? Should that not be his second Awakening? First is water, second is "hiding will do you no good"?

I will be honest, this was not surprising you foreshadowed it in almost every interaction between Rain and B. Though I was never absolutely sure, these to contradictory aspects is what makes today's reveal so satisfying. ( Standing Ovation!!!!) PS These two lines are some of the best I have ever read given how concisely sumrise the entire chapter Weeping softly, Baledagh closed his eyes. And I open them.

Thundermike00

That's bat shit crazy lol. Sure fooled me I thought they were two people all along

Dmitriy Zaslavsky

Monk said: most of them defiled not all.

Meschmee

I like it. I had suspicions it was like this but my thinking was backwards. That Rain created Baledagh because he was too soft for this martial world and needed the ruthless alter ego. Now they have fuzored their power can increase.

Aaron Martinez

But Blobby is still missing! Though this makes more sense of his recent time with Tally and Tate But less sense of when Blobby almost ate Baledagh and Rain stopped him. Is Blobby really just Rain's first success at binding water?

Aaron Martinez

My first thought too: what happened to Blobby?

Cole Mathews

And holy shit, you said you were planning that from the beginning? Those are some impressive planning skills you've got there. I am so glad you decided to start writing.

Cole Mathews

Damn. This is one of the saddest and most well done chapters of your entire story in my opinion. The only problem is now I have to reread everything and analyze it, but I just did that a month ago. Thank you for the chapter.

same thought, sheesh... but thinking back that baledagh was always appearing in times of need. gj ruff. now it's time for the north to smack some faces.

Alan McBrayer

Well this explains the grand confessors zeal. If he was a potential applicant of the brotherhood then he must have once been defiled and recovered, but he never joined the order and therefore doesn't know their secret. And since he never learned to control the three sins he could be more susceptible to the spectres.

eersc

this is not savage divinity, this is fight club!

NomadicSoul

I can't wait to read the comments when this hits RR. People are going to lose their shit 😂. Eh-Mi-Tuo-Fuo

Dmitriy Zaslavsky

Well, okay, Baledagh gone, but what about Heavenly Water? My inner Jew is crying about this loss...

Łukasz Gajewski

damn i love your story, how do i go to work tomorrow without knowing what happened next, how merged personality interacted with his girls

Yea, I considered changing my mind and letting bdawg live happily ever after, but it would've changed too much.

Yea, I wanted it jarring, which was why I threw in all that stuff about the monk taking 'Brother' and fixing their lives.

NomadicSoul

Dono honestly iv been expecting something similar it was my original theory. I did hope b was a divergence personality taking on a life of his own. Oh well rip B

I have to admit that I like your concept. However I think the revelation was a bit to jarring, almost to the point of being less believable. Maybe that was the point? I dont know. Thanks for the chapter!

Yeppers. Rayne got left behind in Vol 1. Ch 19: I may have lingering phantom memories, but that doesn't matter anymore. It's just a part of me. Who I used to be is not as important as who I am now. My name is Rain.

ThePolarParadox

Let's face it. Rayne is dead. Baledagh was never truly real. Monk Fatso's right. There has only ever been Falling Rain. The end.
