The Penitent Brotherhood seems to have a strong assets for Imperial clan to be wary of them

Abbot and his boys: "The party don't start till we walk in"

CentaureHeart

The problem with direct confrontation is that it becomes much easier to make a fool of yourself. The Yang will have to be really careful that this does not come back to bite their ass. What would happen if Rain starts to point fingers ? If public opinion shifts completely against them, what do they do ? Slaughter everyone and leave the front wide open ? Anyway this is going to be fun. Hopefully you don't kill off too many of the Bekhai. You're on a roll lately, this volume is crazy good, thanks !

his ineptitude here is because he doesn't know the whole thing. he knows nothing of imperials vs Rain, the most he might've heard is a Royal Guardian came out to challenge Gerel. how he supposed to extrapolate "imperials want rain dead" from that?

Moonspike

I really hope the Abbot shows up right in time for the PM's grandson to make a huge fool of himself.

Rene Christensen

Sounds boring.

Meschmee

I really hope they gut the PM in his sleep and slaughter all their opposition in overwhelming fashion.

Before this chapter I thought Min Gyu was Rain's liaison to politics, a man using guile and political acumen to hide his weakness and knowingly burning the bridges he'd built over a lifetime to take Yan in, this shift into an inept player bothers me, I would much prefer his stray thoughts on the first quarter be directed at the growing bekki vs pm conflict than random rumblings about Dain and Yan, we know he got news from the north fort because he already knew about Gerel being peak expert, and he should really understand that Gam's "exile" to the barracks is because they don't trust him or his mom, and the invitation to the villa is a call to arms and not just a nice gesture, it feels wrong to see him as such a fool in the greater game.

Morog T Tiny

I really enjoyed this chapter.

Good chapter. If you’re looking for places to edit out, I’d try to find it in the first quarter. But you’ve already written it at this point and it mostly fits (paragraphs 3, 5, & 6 felt most rambling to me). The culture in RRL/web novels seems to be that “more is always better” once people are enamored with the story, so I really can’t advocate cutting.

Andrew

Thank you!

"Join them in their inevitable downfall" is a funny way to say "Watch as the prime minister's slaves get massacred"
