Well no more. For I have found the perfect solution, while chatting with relatives I didn't know I had thanks to this stupid covid19 outbreak. See, one of my uncles has expressed interest in writing, but as a collaborative effort rather than just by himself. I talked it out with him and we came to an agreement. From here on out, SD will be written by a team of forty adorable little cousins of mine living somewhere in China, overseen by my hardworking uncle, who assures me they will make their deadlines on time. Now, there are a few issues, like they don't really speak english and I cant read chinese, but through the magic of google, and with help from some dude in brazil, we have put together a great SD chapter with help from my notes, all for the low low price of $3.50 a month. In total. Amazing bargain.
Now they didn't get this chapter out to me before I finished it myself, so it's pretty much a rehash of chapter 565, but it's so good I can hardly tell a difference. To that end, him being crippled and having to essentially find his own way back onto the martial path(if he ever does) makes a lot more sense for the story. I'm clearly still an avid fan. Rain has a lot of little comments that imply the imperial family is hoarding secrets that could help everyone advance much further on the martial path, but they keep it for themselves to ensure the regular populace doesn't get strong enough to overthrow them. Like how he posits that his ability to get into someone elses natal palace might be an imperial secret. Not a unique talent of his, but something everyone can learn given enough practice. Or how Min Gyu thinks he could have recovered with the imperal clans resources if he was worthy enough for them to reach out in the past. Clearly some of us were overthinking those musings of characters. I am genuinely excited to see where everything goes from here, these last few chapters have been wonderful. April fools chapter excluded. keep on trucking on Ruff.
I guess I'm one of those people who want rain to be OP. But not like wuxia main character broken, but top of the class. I felt like the narrative so far was pushing the story to have a 'frog in the well' direction to it. Like he would advance to peak expert only to find out there was an entire country where 'peak expert' didn't mean shit and all of the old monster martial warriors were half divinities. I guess myself and others always thought the martial path you've described was a bit of a hoax, which is why a bunch of us want Rain to recover and move on. I guess after reading some of your comments here and on discord thats not true. And Rain has genuinely been skipping the milestones like a wuxia-genius.
