0.6 Status Update #22

Last weekend we did some editing and proofreading, resulting in a fresh batch of fixes and a couple of re-renders for the future. We also continued working on a scene that's one of the largest environments we've ever made. Very laggy too with several characters! But before we focus on the last scenes fully, there are still some wrinkles in the branches that we need to iron out to make sure everything's working as intended.
Practice and working on animations continued this week. This is one of the areas where we'd like to get a lot better in the future, which should be doable as we're getting more and more experience with each update. We're still far from feeling confident when it comes to animations, but we're always trying to figure out what works, what's garbage, and what could use improvement. We'll always have a survey accompanying each update too, so remember to leave your thoughts there to help us out! We need it.
Other news
We continued preparing assets and some art for the next updates. A few other projects also resurfaced from the void, such as some in-game phone apps and a laptop with a browser, character gallery, choices glossary and more. The laptop will be in some future Freeplays.
There are a couple of phone apps/games that we've worked on previously but haven't made their way into the game yet due to their lack of polish. For example the random fortune teller, who's normally a bit of a doomer and fairly satanic, but this time had a rare friendly fortune to share...

That random fortune teller sounds interesting but I do hope the Random Lewd Scenes with Eve Generator is getting it's own fair share of attention and polish as well. I understand there's a LOT of people looking forward to that one. I mean like SUPER LOTS! ð

We don't intend to cheap out on animations, but they are reserved for moments where we think they are necessary. Some things, like capturing specific movements, can benefit greatly from animation. ð

Yep, there are so many things that can go wrong with animations, and something inevitably always does. ð

I'd prefer the devs didn't waste time on animations at all. Summer Heat looks beautiful with only still pictures. A mediocre or even sub par animation would feel jarring next to such amazing still pics. Animations in most of these types of games look silly or downright bad. Best just to skip right past them. I play for the story and characters and wouldn't miss animations one bit but I know I'm in the extreme minority on that one.

Hello guys, I'm an animator and 3D modeler, so I can understand the pain XD. Just a little consideration on the speed of the scene, in some cases I prefer a little faster action, sometimes the animation is too slow in terms of movements, but it's just my preference. You are amazing anyway, best looking game out there, keep the good work!

The animation's so far looked amazing, I never was able to detect any mistakes so I have no problem with it if you focus on these longer than expected. Have a good next week âĪïļ
