Status Update #56

This week we... well, we did pretty much the same as last week. Editing, dialogue proof-reading, and post-processing renders. New renders were also made for the last scene, and some supplementary renders for other scenes.
There is a semi big branch right at the end of the update and we're thinking about the best way to put it together. We think a lot of people will be met with greyed out options again, while others will finally get to act on a certain choice they made earlier in the game. We know the paths for this scene, and a couple others will also converge a bit later. But the context will be very different.
Aside from that, we also fixed some in-game icons and bugged out links, and reworked some hover buttons. Great success. Generally making the code slightly more efficient and future proof. There were also a couple of new clothing morphs for Bree made.
Next week, some ❤ for the Android version.
Update when
Lately we've been answering a lot of "update when?" questions again so we figured we might as well confirm it publicly as well. Yes, Summer Heat will be updating this year. Or in other words, before GTA6.
For the anxious ones, at this point in the development cycle we recommend checking the title of the status updates. If there's no release date in the title, there won't be one in the post either. The status updates are more about keeping you in the loop about what's happening on a weekly basis, and not a magic hat to pull dates out of. When the fabled release date is here, it'll be announced very clearly in the title. Until then, the TBA remains.
We'd love to give you a date, and we almost did a while ago. It would've been Inaccurate however, and now you'd be reading about delays instead. We're not fans of delays or excuses, which is why you won't see either in our status updates (we hope). This comes with the Unknown debuff instead, but is that any better? We personally prefer guaranteed dates and no guesstimates, but we understand that everyone has their own perspective.
In the future we can also condense our yapping into bullet points again, if that's preferred. Like in the good old days. Opinions are welcome, as always.

The monthly special render poll will be up this weekend. This time, the theme will be Halloween. Kate was the winning lady for September and won't be in the poll, but who else would you like to see win this month? And would you like to see the side girls included? Below you can find the previous two Halloween renders. The pumpkins will also be returning.

Easily missed. We don't really know where the sweet point is right now either, as the consensus seems to always be more, more and more. Hope the content will be to your liking with 0.7! :)

Yeah, the greyed out options will mostly be a little nudge that there could've been another approach or dialogue option based on past choices. 👍 We've been in the "Is this all you've got?" hole before. And now we're in the "What's taking so long?" hole instead, while already trying to dig our way out of the former. We'll definitely change the status updates around to be more simpler in the future with all the little things we've mentioned about before. Something more casual. We like to try different approaches and see what's interesting for the status updates. Sometimes it's really just pose this and that, lines of coding and SFX and that's about it. Maybe that would be overall better, with just numbers. We'll see what direction the winds blow after the update. :)

I mean at this stage you already missed the sweet spot, so the update MUST land well and have shit-tons of content, but you already delivered nothing but perfection until now. So I for myself trust you with this.

Hi guys. So my opinions for what it's worth on this update. Can't say I'm too enthralled about the prospect of greyed out options but, that will probably mean I've done something wrong somewhere so to go back and try again lol. Always good to act on choices though 😁 As far as the update when aspect, me personally, I like guestimates. I like to know very roughly what size the ball park is gonna be at least lol. But I get it, whilst I personally would take that with a massive pinch of salt and expect that we could fall weeks or maybe even a month or two either side of that, even if the initial guess is very conservative, it's nice to have an idea, but I know that other people would take it far too literally and if you said November and it didn't come out till the first week of December, there'd be hell to pay. Shame but people can be like that. That said, I don't think you can make it any clearer that we'll know when you know and that when you do give a date, it will pretty much be set in stone. That said, I'd be shocked if I didn't see more comments asking when it's coming 😂 I think it will be better when working towards 0.8 to have a rough idea of a render count target so we know what we're working towards and that will give us a better idea of progress and I'lI look forward to that. I do definitely prefer these kind of updates though. I mean sure, if it makes your life easier, go back to bullet points but I like the personal level, the chatty kinda "this is what we've been up to this week" approach. I'd like to see you stick with this format, personally. As far as Halloween renders go, side girls I think for definite. We've had Eve and Sophie, Kate is out so that leaves Bree and Mia and, as beautiful as they both are, I think you could have some real fun with the them if you included side girls. On the subject of Halloween renders, don't forget that the deadline for submissions to the AVN-L Times Halloween renders competition is 24-10-2025. You guys can smash this, I've got every faith, good luck and thanks for the update 🙂
