For real tho, painting this pose was really fun. Jones looking blissed out of his mind and a smug Xue knowing it was damn well his doing, just a delight to show some sweeter erotic interactions. Not as weighty as scenes with Jones and King or Horatio. It’s a nice change for once.
I might’ve already said it but Xue starts as an errand boy for one of the many newspapers in town, eventually rising the ranks and becoming an apprentice reporter. Jones and him met as teens and they stay friends thruout the story (though nothing romantic develops between them in canon)
Very bare bones for now, we haven’t been coming up with more story details lately, too busy thinking of vampires and being sick!
Speaking of vamps, after this painting, I have this mock up sketch prepared for a vampire jones which looks kinda melancholic and I’m so incredibly pumped to start it.

I love your art so much. I know I say it all the time but seriously the small details are just wonderful. The way the light shines, the small things in the corners or the background that make it a home they live in and not just a bed for background noise. Jones blissful expression and the way Xue's hands just lie on his skin with the right amount of delicacy. God 🙏😭😭🙏
