My physiotherapist does acupuncture (they call it "dry needling") as one of their services, and explained that the science behind it is forced involuntary muscle relaxation so the body can prevent injury from the needle. The relaxation of muscle then goes on to prevent issues from strain/overtightening, which happens to compensate for strength issues elsewhere. Does not directly fix love life though I'm afraid.

I have always felt great after a massage and thought the same.. however… I booked a fabulous hour massage in Margate for my boyfriend and I and wowwww the headaches after were so intense! We had to force ourselves to eat the additional afternoon tea as quick as we could and head back to the air b n b to lie for the rest of the day, cold flannel on the forehead, dark room. I’ve always downed the water as advised since 😂
