Febuary 2022 -- I report!

- Design documents. Specifically, there is an RPG that's been cooking up in my head. I wanna try to develop the language necessary to convey those ideas, so this is one thing I'll be working on.
- If possible, I'd also really love to actually do the work on Nancy game as I had already promised last month.
Let's talk about that first point!
The Mystery of the Design Doc
I don't have much to present. THAT SAID! I will present what I got.
I had no idea that depicting something like the flow of menuing could be so quite demanding! And then I tried putting those images in a text document. It didn't go well, I couldn't even get them to be the same size. But you know what, this was fun.
I might come back to this later.
now let's talk about the second point
The Nancy of Nancy: Nancy's Nancy
The. I actually made some progress!
DrawMachine functions. Basically, the foundation for things being drawn on screen in the proper order. Don't worry about having to understand any of it.
Short list of things that have been accomplished:
- Making Nancy fun to control at 60 FPS (twice the framerate as it was on Game Maker)
- Partly implementing Nancy's roll move and clap move.
- Making Nancy interact with walls.
- Basic framework for object code running every frame.
- Basic framework for drawing objects on screen.
- Basic framework for loading in sections, blocks and actors from a text file.
- Getting started on porting the first enemy.

March 2022 -- Planning???
- More work on Nancy game. I don't have any stated objective or anything, just, any progress would be nice.
- Dumping everything I've been up to on deviantArt -- particularly, the january draws. I'll actually be asking y'all if it's OK to post the stuffs I've drawn for y'alls!
- Mostly just taking it easy. Triangle Strategy is gonna be out soon so I'm gonna be playing that!
Yup, March is gonna be pretty lite on things. I'm saving my energy for the next. Things may or may not be crazy then. I hope y'all have a great month!

Art and posting progress! Planning progress! Engine progress! All forms of progress are as good and valuable as each other. Honestly, conveying UI and GUI interactions is quite a thing, and unique RPG flows are almost ALL UI interactions. Even at its best, using only words to try to convey visual information on how things connect and flow isn't ideal. It'd be very tricky for people to follow along. Storyboarding this was a great approach, and a common professional approach for defining and sharing plans of UI interactions (which can get pretty convoluted with branches, and also have the aims of each interaction ideally of the documented between picutre words). The gameplay flow seems like it could be really interesting too. So many ways it could be taken. From what's shown though, health protects the rest of the team, stamina enables more frequent and harder hitting moves for a turn.Wonder how the characters stats and skills will be distributed. Wonder how and when stamina would replenish. Wonder what selection of non-attack options/skills they'd have. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
