In my childhood all my friends had budgies, all of them were put aside somewhere and left alone. Treated like "annoying" decoration. Don't get a bird if you can't meet its needs.

I wouldn't trade the noise and mess my budgie makes for anything. I work from home and she'll try to join in on conference calls. When I'm not on calls I have music playing and she'll run around on my desk and "sing along". There's nothing better than her happy singing.
