Short (and sad) update

I had actually planned a post about being able to prepare booths for Loving Reaper again this year, because the approvals came in last night. Instead there is sad news that set me back a bit.
My dog "Trixie" came to the emergency clinic a few days ago because she collapsed. She was found to have a cancerous tumor that ruptured half of her spleen. Because of this she lost a lot of blood. We were looking for blood donors and so many thousands of people either tried to help or shared the message. The call for help for Trixie was shared thousands of times within Germany, many called the clinic directly or just came in. The support was overwhelming and for the last two days my little girl seemed to recover as well.
This morning two calls came from the clinic. On the first call I was told that she tolerated the blood donation so well that she will be allowed to go home tomorrow. The second call, just a few minutes later, told me that she was unexpectedly dying...
And that's it. The friend who had been with me through so much for the last ten years just died.
The only thing that consoles me a little is that I was allowed to visit her the day before. I gave her all the love and reassurance I could muster (and a few treats).
Ironic how I could write so many stories about grief, but not a single one comforts myself.
Maybe I'll dedicate a whole separate comic to her, maybe that IS my way of grieving. Maybe this is my way of saying goodbye.
Please have some understanding and patience, I was really hard hit by her sudden passing.

I'm sorry. T . T After one of our dogs passed away, she came to visit me in the dreams. I "woke" to her licking my face. She was really happy that she had found me again. For a while, I was laughing and hugging her while she was licking my face, until eventually she had to leave again and I woke up for real. She was completely black, and had long fur. Then a few years later I had an encounter where I was chatting with a friend / colleague in front of a university dorm building, and a dog came running at me. The dog was completely white, but otherwise looked similar to the dog who had passed away. It was really happy that it had finally found me again, and after greeting me, it looked back towards its owner, as if thinking "Look, look! Look whom I found again!" The owner was running towards us, scared about the dog's behavior. Sometimes the loved ones return to us in dreams, and sometimes even after their reincarnation. Take care, and may the fond memories ease the pain.
