Michael Claringbould is an expert on Japanese aviation and the South Pacific, focusing largely on the time frame of 1942-1943.

Superb interview on a very interesting subject. Claringbould is an amazing resource. Any student of military history should read his books! Would love to see more interviews with historians/authors.

Wow. Very thoroughly researched and contemplated. I have even more respect for the aircrew who flew anyway, and am even angrier that wars are fought for no real gain. We really need to skip straight to the part where the sides exchange restaurants.
