So, what with the He 177 glide/dive bombing requirement? If it is just a secondary requirement, why would it make the RLM insist that He 177 needs to have a two-engine arrangement until August 1942, given that Heinkel already asked for a four-engine trial on 17 November 1938 and the dive brakes had already been omitted from the He 177 after the initial A-0 pre-production batch.

I think the Allies use of heavy bombers mostly shows their industrial compacity and the resources they are able to throw around. Basically, the Allies won not because they HAD heavy bombers but because they could build them in numbers in addition to anything else they needed.

So was FW-200 in Luftwaffe or Kriegsmarine service while on its Atlantic patrols?
