Might I be so bold as to suggest Lexington, KY as a possible future venue. Not as crowded with artists. A very receptive audience and venues are much more reasonable than the cities you mentioned. Just a suggestion you may want to check into.

Oh my… US conversion is $52,325.89. I feel so bad for artists. Also, 100% agree with this - “The Internet may not be as emotionally rewarding as live performance, but please know that we are still here, willing you on.” Makes me realize too just how important Patreon is right now.

I just read a news item on the BBC website about a singer/songwriter about to embark on a tour in the States. Her gigs are sold out and she estimates that that she will lose about £40k on the trip. I really hadn't realised just how hard the business has become for artists and my heart goes out to you. The Internet may not be as emotionally rewarding as live performance, but please know that we are still here, willing you on.

Malinda, even though I’m sad to not be able to see you and attend an amazing concert, I completely understand. I know how hard of a decision this must’ve been. You have to do what’s right for you. I am so freaking thankful for everything you and this community has done for me. I am looking forward to a concert, whenever that may be, and we will all have the greatest time together. Sorry you will be missing Raleigh. I was at the last show in Raleigh and the venue Pour House was the most packed I had ever seen it. It's dissapointing that you can't make this work financially even for a packed venue but I am sure the travel to get there and the other costs you mentioned are factors I can't really understand but can completely appreciate. Hopefully Raleigh will be on the next tour!!

Malinda, what you do is not a hobby, it’s a business,giving pleasure to many (hopefully including you) but not at the expense of financial realism and long term security, or as near as your industry allows. Too often ‘creatives’ separate themselves from reality with punishing consequences for physical and mental health, let alone the bank balance.Please be careful that you don’t try to compensate for reduced performances by straining the vocals ,easily done. Congratulations on taking the next steps to ensure a successful career 🙂
