Not sure if anyone has answered about the masks, but aside from good hygiene when you’re sick, in some Asian cities there are times when the air quality can sometimes be not very ideal due to pollution particulates so people are used to having to wear them when needed (countries like in China, Thailand and South Korea). But for idols, there is also another more practical reason for doing so. Sometimes they would opt to wear one when they are not camera ready (no make up or haven’t shaved yet etc.) or also it’sa convenient way when they do not want to be recognized in public
