Why the Music in Cats (2019) is Worse than you Thought
🕑 Added 2021-01-01 02:22:20 +0000 UTCIt's finally here!
And like Cinderella, I barely got this out before the end of the year (the YouTube content ID system had some opinions about this video)
And my god I could make another video just as long with everything I cut out of this one.
Like if you guys read the articles by the audio heads (link in the description) they talk about how for Cats they had TWO (2!) pianists, each in their own PORTABLE STUDIO that they would MOVE TO THE DIFFERENT SETS to accompany the specific performers that they practiced with.
It's insane!
Hands down, this is one of the most absurd behind-the-scenes I've ever seen/heard about a film, let alone a movie musical.
And I just want to extend another very big thank you to you all for letting me take a month off to make you a bigger, longer, and hopefully better video.
Like always.
Thank you all for your continued support
I literally could not do this without you
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I would absolutely love to listen to you explain aria, recitative, and basically that whole section you decided to leave out. With your frequent good/bad examples which are always super helpful!!
Lonely Roman Noise
As someone who briefly worked as a stagehand for musical theatre and hated it, I thought I'd never sit through more Cats than I had to, the most musical-y musical to anyone who doesn't really care about musicals. When the movie bombed, I sensibly chortled and moved on. Somehow, some way, you got me to spend two hours of my life thinking about Cats, and by the end I even cared about how the film botched it. You're a wizard man. I don't want you pulling your hair out at the end of every video, but the way your personal passion comes through is one of my favorite things about your channel.
This video convinced me of your genius. I think I learned more about music in this entertaining hour than I did in my whole years in school ^-^
