I just don't think it's high on their list when it comes to crime. Otherwise you would think that some enterprising law enforcement people would try to get in touch to see how they might do this themselves.

Does this good-people-against-scammer war stay private or will it eventually be observed by US Government ? Are they aware ? Is it not something on their to-do list ? Just hoping it would happen.

Could be. I've got a hikvision here but can't remember the default password. It has been changed anyway. Sure it is unlikely someone will find my ip and probe it for open ports then try hikvision passwords but regardless I set a decent password. Besides my cameras aren't that interesting. You'll get to see the cat and me walking around. Like wow ! So exciting :D

FEMA could use a helpful video like these. You wouldn't believe how many scammers pop up whenever a disaster strikes.

With the recent Covid-19 related shutdowns and the promise of a government check of about $1000 to people who can’t work I’ve noticed a large increase in calls from “its” officials to my house. I’ve also noticed a number of clients that I help at the nerd brigade has increased with scams related to this. If you’ve had any offers to publicly educate people on a medium like TV where it will reach its more effected audience I think you should take the opportunity. Love this series and it makes me feel good like watching a bully get what they deserve. Keep it up.

Well, scammers are fair game in my book, bit I need to be careful not to overstep the mark. I do just enough to find out who th we people are, but I don't go any further than I need to. Personally I feel I can do far more damage by publicizing their exploits and how they work than just deleting some files.

I've had a couple of offers for TV shows or appearances, but I've declined them. They objective was to highlight the scams and try to get the Indian police to do something. Both have happened and I'm happy with the outcome.

Jim...check out a service called Jolly Roger. It has several bots which, when the call is answered, proceed to waste a scammer’s time. There are some hilarious phone calls posted on YouTube , listening in on scammers conversing, arguing or insulting robots! The program is inexpensive and easily installed on most telephone systems .

Happy Ending !!!! Thank you for your work Jim, specially for the defenseless elderly. This connectivity so easy these days should not cause more problems than it solves. Working with universities can certainly be a good thing ! Everyone must make an effort, ISPs, cloud service providers etc...

I wish all of the employees there would get arrested too. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Thanks Ian. Sadly, there are so many more call centres just like this one, but I'll keep chipping away. The one good thing is that I've now got contacts within the Delhi police that I never had before. It's probably not the right time to push them to investigate others, but I think when the CV-19 problem eases, I'll ask them to investigate other call centres.
