What I'd be interested in is at what point did people fall for a scam, and why, In my case I was p'..d off by supposedly going to be charged for some sort of "serviice", and fell for the "call this number if you want to cancel. " I think of myself as aware, computer literate, but looking back, did not want to pay an fee for some unknown service! I was, in effect, being miserly, and nearly got caught. I think the "gotcha" moments would be interesting..

Jim, you're doing god's work, and we're going to make sure you can continue doing this as long as you want. thank you Jim

Nice one Ontical.... Good video, but I have to correct you on one thing. The websitehttps://www.find-court-tribunal.service.gov.uk/courts/central-london-county-court is _genuine_. The 0207 phone number published there is a real phone number published on the official gov website. All they've done is spoofed this number on your callerID. I'm guessing that this was an inbound call to your phone because had you you called it, you would really have spoken to someone who arranges appointments. It's trivially easy to spoof phone numbers and it doesn't meant that they were calling from that number. They were banking on you not calling it. Scammers can't buy websites ending with gov uk... no one can (unless you're a government agency). Other than that - nice video! Jim

Ontical

Thanks for everything Jim - I’ve been supporting you for a while now and you inspired me to do some scam baiting myself. Today I received a phone call from scammers informing me that I owed HMRC nearly £2000 and I managed to see their scam all the way through to the end and gathered some information which I passed on to the bank account provider they use in order to freeze their account. https://youtu.be/y8atrrXmEF4

I really respect and appreciate what you do! Thank you for all your hard work and very important videos!

I have a scammer calling me. So far he's had me do the Event Viewer thing. When he asked me to go to AnyDesk I told him I had a DNS error. Spent a while pretending to reboot stuff. Told him I had to go out and he threatened to disconnect my internet for a year! He keeps calling back. Any ideas for any more fun I can have? Or anything useful I could do?

Anthony Paolilli

This video was what convinced me that you need more support. Glad to support you on patron. Keep up the good work! Take down these scammers!

Great work yet again! Awesome to be supporting your efforts Jim.

Amazing work you are doing Jim , proud to be a patreon.

It brought tears to my eyes to hear you saving this elderly man from from having his savings stolen. I hope you can call him back and see how he did, if he was able to get out of the scammer's clutches. You're my hero Jim.

Rose Tyler

Great video!

Jim Browning

It's 20 rupees per dollar, so 1/5 to 1/3 of the amount stolen. It's well worthwhile extracting as much as possible for this group.

dannydaw59

Great work Jim. Only 20 rupees an hour wow. If all the scam call center workers joined together they could get leverage on their boss for better pay. If the boss hires new people they could shut down the call center.

Cynthia Barnett

God bless you and keep up your good work.

Syd

Great job. Always sad when it is harder to convince someone of your good intentions that for them to believe a scammer. What a lot of money to be made by fintech money laundering.

Usagi Koneko

Nice job, Jim.

Krishna Ramaraju

And thanks to you! A lot of the employees who could stop the frauds at the retail store and banking end are either unaware of these scams or just don't care. You're really doing God's work when you stop these scams.

Krishna Ramaraju

Thanks Jim! As always I'm proud to be a Patreon supporter! One thing that I don't believe has been covered by any of the scambaiters is what ultimately happens to the gift cards. There is a network of people who sell gift cards on steep discounts. This has come up in several criminal prosecutions here in the USA. Sadly and embarrassingly many, if not most, of the purchasers of these gift cards are members of the Indian-American community. A lot of people who watch scambaiters don't realize that Target gift cards are quite useless in India.

T C

It's crazy what a little economy they have running on that website with the gift cards. Hopefully more of the scammers utilize bank transfers which can be blocked on the bank's side or reversed.

Jim Browning

Thanks Ben. It was a pleasure working with you.

Jim Browning

He did - it's not public as yet. It will be released on Thursday or Friday, or if you've joined his YouTube group, it's on https://youtu.be/Un6sYuYTZyI

Did pleasant green delist his version of this video you linked?

Pleasant Green! My other fav ytber!

I thought I posted this before: Seeing my BOA 888 phone number on the screen was not surprising. When the victims call and say “I’m sending a wire to my brother-in-law in Bangkok “ or “I’m investing in a restaurant with a friend.” and I ask them the payee’s name and they can’t pronounce it- game over. Thank you Jim, Pleasant Green , and even Kitboga, Scammer Payback, etc for providing me with the ammunition to stop the fraud on my end. Keep up the great work!!!

Great work!! My video will be public later this week!

Thanks Jim for all you do.

Jim Browning

20 rupees for 1 dollar. Around 20-30% of the amount they scam.

Jim Browning

It was "good" to see it. I've heard that they also buy scammer-created apps, purpose built to launder money. They would obviously only use Google Play/Apple Store cards.

Naruto Uchiha

Keep up the great work!

Thanks again Jim. Love your work.

Craig Browning

And I'd suggest clicking the 'quote' box to add responses, so they don't start new topics:) Like see how my posts fit under yours?

Lorna Mangan

Just watched it again, you’re right it’s per dollar- I knew I shouldn’t have had that 2nd glass of wine!

Lorna Mangan

Yes, but it was 20 rupees for 10 dollars wasn’t it! Did I mishear?

Craig Browning

No, 28 cents is 28 percent of a dollar.

Lorna Mangan

Great work again Jim. I’m a bit worried about Kabir though, I’m guessing that’s not his real name, but won’t they be able to work out who it is? How scary are these people, do you have any intelligence around that at all? If you’re able to protect them, then could this provide a potential opportunity- maybe we can crowdfund a pot of money to “turn” a few more scammers (we know money is an incredible motivator for them & doesn’t sound like their bosses give them much of a cut? I checked, 20 rupees is equivalent to c28 cents, so it’s a lot less than 20%) and get deeper into their operations? Just a thought anyway.....

VegaLupina

Who would have thought there are scammers who actually have a conscience. I´m glad this one called out to someone in the scambaiting and raising awareness community. Let´s not forget it might be dangerous for him.

PapiKink

This was good man…real good. Thanks for posting!

Another great job Jim! You deserve a statue!

Dave W

This is why I support Jim's efforts - he goes above and beyond to try and shut down theses call/scam centers and also works with victims when possible. You're a good man Jim and good karma will be returned to you, triple fold.

Laurie Soper

Thank you so much for this, Jim. You are truly amazing. You turn all the rotten stuff on its head and bring some serious FEEL GOOD into the world. Into my world at least, and for sure you have given this would-be victim a new lease on life.

Jim Browning

It is quite similar... He gave a TED talk a while ago about his experience with someone who looked like a scammer and how he managed to get him to turn his life around... Worth looking at this: https://youtu.be/rLcQHAMjXK8

Dragendave

Nice one, that confirms my guess that they sell the cards on sites like PaxFul..

Harris Ballan

Another win for Jim! Can't express how much I admire what you do, saving victims one person at a time. Great work, long may it continue! :)

itslydiabxtch

I have been a viewer of both you, and Pleasent Green for a long time now but I'm not a Patron of his. Is the rest of his Patreon content similar to this?

Shevchenko

Jim Browning and Pleasant Green is the dream team

Stephen Brown

Let's hope more and more fed up scammers appear though I have my doubts, never the less, great work Jim.

Elizabeth Calvert

Can't wait to get enough free time to watch this... Right now tiny human needs attention 🙃
