Can someone plz give all US police employees (and officers) a crash coarse in scam-baiting and how it works... They seam currently clueless about this subject. Either that or they play dumb so as to avoid putting in any real work!

Robin Hughes

Is it just me, or is this infuriating 🤬to watch cops waste time asking how you know stuff instead of just helping? I recently watched a video on the internet where FOUR cops showed up on a “Karen” call. Two black men kindly scraped snow off an adjoining sidewalk so she calls 911 because they didn’t get her permission. Why do they need 4 cops for that BS? And I see it over and over. THAT is how our resources get wasted instead of people with real problems getting help when they need it. Ridiculous! Love you Jim. I wish more people knew about you!! A real crusader. MAD RESPECT! 💕

“Warren” PD could be anywhere in the states. But when you said 9 Mile Rd, I think most of us here know that is Detroit. Knowing that, the Warren PD is well aware of their blunder thanks to social media and your Patreons. Great work you’re doing!!

hey, when interacting with the US police, i would recommend using the word "impersonate." "there is a man impersonating government officials to steal a woman's money. they are threatening her and forcing her to visit bitcoin ATMs in town. i know which location she will be at shortly and i need someone to intervene, because she's vulnerable and she believes them." i would suggest that you use urgent language and make it clear what actions you need them to take, because it sounds like they don't currently have any protocols for a situation like this.

Ben

How much I hate those criminals...

Val Page

If these scammers are pretending to be US Customs and Border Patrol to scam US citizens, is this something that the police in USA should be dealing with. They just didn’t seem bothered.

Nishil

Feels horrible to see so many scams running from my country and my city.

Ivko Cvejic

There is an episode of American Dad where the CIA clones an extinct Dodo bird that Stan has to look after. Throughout the episode the family have to keep pulling the bird out of death traps it's constantly trying to maneuver itself into. In the end the bird dies anyway, and the point is that sometimes you just can't help no matter how much you might want to. As much as I truly hate these scammers, there is a point where I begin to lose sympathy for a victim. If your bank is straight telling you you're being scammed and you ignore them and all other attempts to inform you, then perhaps this is simply a teachable moment for you, or an indication that you aren't prepared for independent living anymore.

Robert Langtry

Unfortunately that has a chance of backfiring against Jim. What he's doing isn't entirely legal. We have many laws in place that do far more to protect the thieves over their victims in both USA and Canada.

Robert Langtry

It's always easier to fool someone than it is to convince them that they've been fooled.

ed minn

I am encouraged at the number of call-recipients who challenged their provocations. This is, I believe, due to your campaign and education efforts.

MonkWxly

I am just shaking with anger that nothing could be done to stop these thieves from stealing someone's money and that this person is so convinced by their scam.

Melodie Cook

Well that was so frustrating

Phillip Porch III

This is so sad. I hate these thieves and wish we could do more to put them behind bars.

PapiKink

@Jim Browning It will be considerably easier and quicker to avoid pointing out to police who you are and describing the scam taking place and merely tell police you are reporting an attempted robbery of an individual who has been instructed to drive to X ATM or Y bank. There may be follow up questions from them, but reporting a robbery in progress forces police to deem a crime is in fact taking place instead of police hiding behind the cover of “nothing has happened and no victim has come forward” excuse.

PapiKink

It’s almost like she rolled her eyes at the clerk warning her with a smart azz smirk 😏. I wish I could see her face when she realizes she got jacked.

John

Ironically, those lazy w⚓️ police will likely have given themselves much more work now with a crime to try solve.

John

Was that when she put her fingers in her ears screaming LALALALA as she ran out the store? I must admit I lost a bit of sympathy for her right there. I wanted the store people to grab her and give her a slap.

John

Omg I was shouting at my screen! 1. These rats don’t deserve to breath. 2. Ffs! If people are telling you you’re the victim of a scam, maybe take a step back! 3. That police force should be ashamed of themselves. They just couldn’t be bothered. Hopefully they see this and are suitably embarrassed. Brilliant work but sometimes people are just so convinced.

James

I don't know how you do this. I felt stressed and angry just watching the video. You are an amazing person.

Dinesh Maharaj

Was really hoping for a better ending. But thank you for trying Sir.

KRO

Brilliant try to save victim. Exposing their lifestyle and priorities was priceless. I understand that foreign laws vary, but surely they can take action on child endangerment. Bravo 👏🏻❤️👍

Walt Woody Bandstra

You can't win them all. Releasing a disheartening video like this makes me even more determent to support people like you. Keep up the good work.

J M

Who cares? The main thing is to get the police to react. Saying that somebody is getting scammed clearly doesn't work. I know nobody likes people doing backseat quaterbacking, but I truly believe Jim could get a better response from the cops if he said: – he's a cybersecurity expert – he has appeared on BBC – he has over a million followers on Youtube – he monitors scammers for a living Right away, the police would know they are dealing with an expert and not some random amateur. I believe this would make them take the phone call more seriously, and stop wasting time asking those questions like "how do you know this is happening", "who are you?", etc.

KT

Thank you so much for trying ❤️ Heart breaking that this money was lost, but you really did your best x Definitely send this video to the police department’s office and reference the call you made and the time and date/ who you spoke to.

Lorna Mangan

How frustrating for you, I’m so sorry. You should email a link to this video to Warren Police Department & tell them they’re a disgrace. Lazy bastards. I hope it turns out to be his relative or something or even his wife. Would serve him right.

PapiKink

At the 24:00 minute mark, I can’t help but feel someone that stup!d May have no choice other than expect to be scammed over and over. Darwin in play….

Lois Plone

Our local police (in a town of 55,000) take every call seriously. If they get any call they go out and if it is a prank those people get fined. So yes shame on those police who didn’t want to even hear it. Just passing the buck.

Paulo

Education is the key to everything. Please do remember the crime was committed in India, not Warren, Michigan. Unfortunately you cannot fix those determined to believe the scammers. I imagine there is some anti scam messaging on the ATM and maybe there can be an improvement to it to message specific scam examples and require confirmation from the customer that they aren’t in those scenarios such as FBI or CBP scams. The other thing the US needs to do better is allow free carrier lookups for numbers and easier reporting of scam numbers with a requirement for a review and remove service in a timely manner.

Terry Moore

It is hard enough for me watching this after it has happened, I can't even imagine how much harder it was for you watching in real time. You went above & beyond to try to save this woman, it's heart breaking to hear she was not able to accept what was really happening 😢

Paulo

Those police get prank crazy callers regularly, and they need to focus on actual crimes. This crime was not in Warren, it was in India. I agree it would have been a great story if the police had come to the rescue of the lady though. I’m pretty sure they will help spread the word if they can to help prevent this for others in future though!

Paulo

I’m not sure if starting with that would have helped (robbery) as that suggests violence or the threat of it, which was not involved. I was with you Dan to an extra though, yelling at the screen to Jim to say the $ number 😆

Nicholas Kermgard

Hey Jim, I wish I had found out about channels like yours sooner, I am now a patron because of your hard work, along with the likes of Trilogy Media, Pleasant Green, Kitboga, etc. Honestly though, I think this was the most heartbreaking video you've released so far that I've seen (remember, I only subscribed last summer thereabouts). It just sickens me that any law enforcement agency, anywhere in the world, would be just about useless in a situation like this. Especially for a city like Warren, MI, literally being a stone's throw from one of America's most violent cities (Detroit). Your videos should absolutely be studied by law enforcement and computer security organizations worldwide. Keep it up Jim!

Dan Speers

Maybe instead of telling the police she is being scammed, tell them there is a robbery in progress along with the amount of money that is about to be stolen. The word scam or scammed just seemed to elude them.

Dennis Fahey

Send the video to the Warren Police Dept and TV press. Its a learning opportunity for that community.

Steve Jones

My wife says "well that one didn't have a happy ending!".. So sad.. Thank you for trying. I can only imagine my own family being taken with stuff like this. I try to scare the hell out of everyone I know with stuff like this to the point that even when Microsoft updates come up, some family members call me to tell me that "Microsoft broke into the computer again".. but that's OK, I'd rather tell them when it's OK to follow the instructions than to have them lose their life's savings!! A couple years ago I had the CBP scammers call me.. I played along and made them think I was falling for it for about 40 minutes before I said "If I pay the money, can I get back the drugs I mailed"? That was too much for them and they hung up on me..

Sammi Gray-Jones

My wife and I have just watched this from Aberdeen in Scotland and sickens us that nothing could be done to save this poor woman from losing all that money. Why couldn't the cops have sent someone to see what was going on..? Grrrrr.....

Lois Plone

Omg how frustrating. I hope those idiot police see what they have done!

Rogier Willems

If these guys would speak clearly and not slur their words they might be more successful...

Stephanie Humphries

This is Stephanie Humphries but you know Warren is right around the corner from me 🤦🏽‍♀️this actually brought tears to my eyes. Bless Jim’s heart he did all he could possibly do and kudos to him 👏🏽👏🏽

William Ference

The fact they're defrauding victims out of thousands, tens of thousands, and spending it on hard drugs. That is all.

Stephanie Humphries

One more comment I am right around the corner from Warren Mi and I wish I could have helped that poor lady but I know it was impossible. Thank you so much again for everything Jim.

Stephanie Humphries

This actually brought tears to my eyes when that lady believed the scammers and were trying to send them $12,000 omg these scammers are ruthless and for him to say thank you Jesus omg Jim you tried everything you could possibly do and it is so sad that people are that gullible. At least you tried your best.

Linda Rackstraw

Thank you so much for all your hard work Jim. This made me sick to my stomach and they used it to go up their noses. Im sure the police department will hear about it once it hits you tube. What a useless response. Education is the key to everything.

Jagpimp

Hi I know you!!!!

Jagpimp

Wow! That was really hard to watch.Mr. Browning ,I cant say enough good things about what you do for people. You truely are a awesome humane being.Thank you so much for what you do.P.s I hope the Warren Michigan police see this.

Stephanie Humphries

Btw this is Stephanie Humphries I don’t know why this account came up instead of my Stephanie H account 🤷🏽‍♀️

Sanjaya Kumar

Damn, that was hard to watch! What utter scumbags. I hope in the next video we see them being led out by the police.

Stephanie Humphries

This is Stephanie Humphries; I have been looking for this video ever since you said it was going to be a couple of days and I just wanted to thank you so much for answering my question while in chat. I know it’s impossible to answer every single question but you took the time to answer mine and it just makes me even more proud to be a patron of yours for this long and I will remain a patron even if it’s the last penny I have because you definitely deserve it and I truly wish I could afford more but I try to patronize with all the baiters that deserve it and you are on top of the list. Again Jim I can’t thank you enough for your kindness and hard work and perseverance you are a gem 💎 love you much ❤️💜😘

Michele McDermott

Jim - I think you should forward this video to the police department that wouldn’t help!!! People don’t understand “how” scammers get away with this! Well- here it is! It’s always great to “hear” you. Your videos are unreal. Hope you’re at the next Peoples Call Center! God Bless.

Jim Browning

Get well soon Vikanuck! Hope this video doesn't make you worse!
