WOW! This is god's work you are doing, Jim! I am from Romania, and thought we were in the clear from these scams here (not really a 3rd world country, but not very rich, either!). Last month I received a text from "The Postal Office" - telling me that the package I was supposed to receive could not be delivered due to a lack of address. It gave me a link where I should go and input the necessary details. I naively thought it was genuine, and I clicked the link. The website was identical to the Post Office's one - here in Romania, and it had a form in which I was supposed to give all my details (name, Personal identification number, date of birth, address, phone number, etc), and that's when I got suspicious. Tried navigating through the site, and realised it was just a facade. the buttons did not work, redirection to the home page was bust. So I just reported the phone number. Sadly, when going on the real website for the Post Office, they had a banner there alerting people to this scam, which means many people fell for it. I give credit to your videos for making me alert to this and skeptical enough to give it more thought, instead of just giving away my details. Prior to that I just watched you on youtube, but that made me become a supporter on Patreon! Thans, Jim!

It makes me so happy to hear when a company's questions frustrate the scammer, so they can't complete that part of the scam. As always, I am amazed at how you are able to monitor so many call centers, research the companies they claim to be, review the data you obtain, make these videos and still do your own regular job. It really makes my head spin. I wonder if Google would be less likely to accept the payments for top search results placement if they knew it was a scam company. But I guess that is unlikely since we all know money talks. 😞 😞

I lost my comment but so good to hear you again with your informative content. Just side note Comcast infinity and Amazon do use call centers in India for customers service even though I plead not to be transferred because I’m hard of hearing so when they Jack up my bill every 3-6 months I call. An issue with order I just placed with Amazon minutes before and charged on my bank account my call went to Indian call center. An hour and 23 minutes later and 3-4 transfer no resolution. I know this is not what you’re speaking about but American companies should not be using Indian call centers because of cheap pay and no motivation to solve customer issues . Not long ago my HBO went out and on my tv it had a place for code after I went to site to clear it up. The HBO site online was grabbed I guess because it was pages long and very real looking ,never occurred to me it wasn’t after a bit it said it was partially down loading code but call this number to speed process up. An Indian gentleman (and I use that word loosely ) asked what kind of phone I had and after watching years of baiters felt it was very odd. He then told me to go to App Store and download AnyDesk I hung up. Glad you will be back Jim!

Wow Jim it amazes me how you are able to come across these different scams. Everyone needs a Jim Browning in their life to protect them from these crooks lol and tbh I recently was switching my service from AT&T to Xfinity and in between calling them I landed with scammers but thanks to you guys I was able to spot it right away and I will just say this they regretted trying to scam me lol. Again Jim thank you so very much for your hard work and dedication and perseverance you are simply amazing ❤️

As far as the provider goes, one victim's bill is paid early. However if the person whose CC was used notices the charge, they may charge back or dispute the payment. Either way, it's a mess that the scammers don't need to clean up..m they already have their payment.

I was quite encouraged to witness the Service Providers' security measures - their phone clerks were clearly well trained to deal with these scammers. One wonders if Google puts much effort into verifying the bona fides of their paying advertisers - evidently not. Great video, Jim. I don't mind you posting only very infrequently; I would rather you spent your time investigating and exposing the scammers. Keep up the good work!

The exact reason for the call doesn't really matter. Whether it's a simple support/outage/query, the scammer will insist on a payment for something which would normally be provided for free (like an engineer visit/package update etc). They will insist on the victim paying their outstanding bill before the engineer visit or change. They will be asked for their card details and told to expect a 'promotion' name on their bill. The promotion is the name of their (US) scam company.

I'd like to hope that Google look into this in more detail. Utility companies need to also search for fake helpdesk numbers too and report these to Google. I suspect there's no incentive for Google to police scams on their platform.

Does Google allow these scammers to promote their link? Google's own YouTube would ban any channel that suggests any fraudulent activity. Google should pay a penalty if any sponsored link goes to any scammer.
