At the beginning it's more of an "epic battle song", but after the first minute mark it gets quiet, and it stays there for pretty much the whole duration. More environmental. With what you've written about it, I can see what you tried to achieve, and while it wasn't my first interpretation, it absolutely does fit your description. well done :)
