Flexi Factory Elephant #ffearlyrelease
🕑 Added 2022-04-29 22:29:29 +0000 UTCI didn't go into it thinking this would be a circus elephant. In fact, after finishing the Dragon I thought it would be nice to make a cute, but much simpler model.
Of course it had to stand up...that's a given. But after looking at pictures of Dumbo, I thought it would be great if it could sit (gently squeeze the front legs together to accomplish this).
Then after a few test prints the happy accident occurred. I noticed when standing, it was actually perfectly balanced on two feet!. At first I thought, “Hmm, should I fix that? Circus elephants balance.” That's when I got really excited about this model. I dressed it up, gave it accessories to stand on, and now I love it.
I really hope you do too!!!
Reminder to scale everything the same so it can use the accessories.

Quick question, is there anyway you could remix the elephant without the circus outfit/garb? My wifes favourite animal is the elephant and would love to print her a plain version.

I test to 50% but never suggest that small because the parts as you know get quite small and fragile. You really need great adhesion for those little ears. I use a glue stick on a smooth plate instead of a textured pei. 15% infill, 3 walls and .12 layer height ( high quality settings).

I am having the ear problem also - one ear starts to separate from the bed out 90% complete. Has happened on both prints.

my print got to 80% complete and my printer messed up and the print failed. luckily for me I was home when it happened, so I was able to stop it before too much filament was wasted. I got to thinking and I actually designed a platform to glue to the top of the elephant and turn it into a small table. the print wasn't what messed up, my printer made a funny noise and it started to print offset from the original spot.

Ouch! I did my large ball with 7% Zig Zag infill and it came out perfectly. I also only use 4-5% infill on all the models using Gyroid infill pattern. Saves a good amount of time and is still plenty strong.

Printed our first elephant yesterday 100% scale in gold to try new filament and came out great! Been printing the big ball in a cool blue and it's about 70% now, going for almost 10 hours! On the ball, could I reduce the infill to 10%, instead of 20%? If anyone knows would be great... Another amazing print!
