I hope everyone has had a chance to check out my Cyber Fish video. Unfortunately, I cant put both photos and videos in one post, but I thought it was a nice teaser to show of my new mechanism :)
While the mouth opening AND being print-in-place can't be achieved on every model... I was very excited to be able to introduce it for this design! There is just something special about printing one complete flexi model. I think it would be fun to print a tiny benchy to pop in it's mouth haha.
Print tips and Info:
STL and 3MF files are included. * If you use the 3mf file, please remember that it is a painted project file for your convenience. You must check your material/printer/settings to make sure it works correctly for your printing project.
I print with 3 walls, 15% infill/gyroid, .12 or .16 layer height for quality.
As usual. make sure you have good adhesion, especially for the mini versions. I always use a glue stick.
I test printed between 40% and 150% for this design. Consider high quality materials and settings, the smaller you go. Details will be lost, but they printed great even at 40%.
Gradient PLA works well with this model: I have a comprehensive list of Filament I use here: Amazon List
1st photo is 150% STL Hand Painted and 100% 3mf: Amolen Matte Sand Beige, stained and painted, then sprayed with Rustoleum Satin Enamel. 3mf is Amazon Basic Gold, Ziro Silver, Anycubic Black and Sunlu White.
2nd photo is 150% STL handpainted (picture tutorial coming soon :) Amolen Matte Sand Beige, stained and painted, then sprayed with Rustoleum Satin Enamel.
3rd photo has 100% STLs: Amolen Metallic Rainbow and Locyfens Silk Blue/Green.
4th photo STLs 80%, 50%, 40%: Ziro Rainbow Blaze
5th photo 110% STL: Locyfens Rainbow Silk

I was finally able to get to the Cyber fish and used some Kingroon rainbow Silk PLA and it turned out super!
