..........................................................................................
Update: 9/17/2025… More neck joints added. Each dino needs 4 small pieces and 4 large pieces totaling 8 when assembled. I try to make the 3mf plug and play, but sometimes I do miss things. On the prior project file there were 5 small and 5 large neck joints which is only enough for one. I have added 10 small and 10 large because I personally like to print extras!
………………………………………………………………….
What do you do when you can't figure out how to make a Flexi Brachiosaurus neck that's also poseable? Well...you engineer a new mechanic. 🦾
After doing a crazy amount of test prints getting that neck just right, I couldn't be happier with the results. The shorter back legs and more upright head position differentiate the Brachiosaurus from the Brontosaurus, and makes it the largest of the Sauropods! I have to admit I had to research a bit to learn about the differences hahaha.
As usual, I created two head versions (with and without the eye), a stand, and since this Dino is an herbivore, A little branch it pulled from a tree. Keep your eyes open for the XXL post coming Wednesday. 👀
When Putting the neck together, make sure you separate the large and small joints first. Pay attention to the slot orientation, and snap together 4 large on the bottom, and 4 small on the top. And the neck looks amazing because of the way it prints. You can get a very similar effect to multicolor with just a gradient!
*Caution: Just like building blocks, they can be hard to get apart once you snap them together.
Happy Printing -Dan

Print tips and Info:
STL and 3MF files are included. * If you use the 3mf file, please remember that it is a painted project file for your convenience. You must check your material/printer/settings to make sure it works correctly for your printing project.
I print with .12 or .16 layer height for quality.
As usual, make sure you have good adhesion, especially for the mini versions. A glue stick works or I have switched to using on all my machines... a BIQU Cryopgrip Frostbite adhesion plate.
Consider a brim if you have concerns about the links losing adhesion, they have a small footprint. And print more than you need :)
I successfully test printed between 50% and 370% XXL for this design.
XXL version must be GLUED together with Super Glue.
Gradient PLA works well with this model: I have a comprehensive list of Filament I use here: Amazon List

Sheddy's 3D Print Shop
Can the floating parts warning be safely ignored on the XXL?
Dan
There are no extra pieces. As long as you didn't make any changes to the plate there are small neckl lnks and large neck links as you can see in the infographic above. The large neck links go on the bottom and you can use three to four of them and the small neck links on the top and you can use three to four of those. You must use both the large and the small links in order to make them function correctly. Additionally, they only go in One Direction so you will see the spine piece at the top and the Slit at the bottom of each.
Julie Clancy
Are there extra pieces? The two small Dinos ones on the plate were printed along with 20 neck pieces
Dan
I will think on that. Obviously it's flat because the way it has to print :)
Alan
Hi I have just finished assembling the XXL version of the Brachiosaurus. would it be possible for you to design a part to glue on the flat bit of his head as this would finish off the model.
