Thanks for the chapter! What an interesting guy.

I mean, a pet theory of mine is that Echidna's body is a free roaming C'tan, likely one that never participated in the whole war in heaven thing. Thus why necron tech isnt reacting to her being one, it would explain why she has her own realm, separate from the warp, that can take in and absorb/devour souls, she just uses it much more benevolently than most c'tan do due to the human mind currently in charge. It also explains why she is able to warp and twist reality with relative ease without drawing on the warp to do any of that. Instead she has to actually account for and manipulate natural laws, wielding genetics and physics to get things done, not unlike the c'tan do. Clearly her specialty is biology and life where other c'tan have things like being the aspect of literal Death or deception. That she Also has access to warp manipulation and psy powers is easily explained by her biology aspect... after all psykers are biological evolutions so naturally she could use her organic creations/avatar to manipulate things as a psyker would, only more so. Anyhow, to adress your idea. Canonically the old ones are quite dead, but if they are not then any such old one would have been around all the way back in the war in heaven era... and has somehow not done much in all that time, given they would have been able to command the eldar and krork both? Seems unlikely though its not like it would be impossible someone stuffed an old one into a tesseract pokeball long long ago... Time travel shenanigans are also possible, but- Hmm... Hang on. So the Old ones had tremendous psychic potential and where bio-sculptors, able to create new species and such to serve their needs. Guess if Echidna is not c'tan then she could quite possibly be something they made long long ago. Though again it seems odd that the nekrons would not recognize a tool of their most ancient enemy if that's what she is. Either way, the universe is pretty well at war as is, throwing an old one into the mix wouldnt do much other than possibly bring back the krork. It's not like a single old one would be able to abuse the warp nearly as much as they could in the old days before the warp got all chaosy. Though as a foil in bio-sculpting they'd certainly be one of few that could beat Echidna at her own game.

Assuming of course that Isha is still whole and sane after all that time under nurgles thumb. I havent read the relevant books, but I cant imagine there are no side effects

I don't think she is a creation of Tzeentch per se, more like they knew having that specific sorcerer do that specific ritual with that specific artifact just as the great rift opened would result in something interesting happening and what could be more interesting than adding a new player to the great game.

Thank you for the chapter. I'm looking forward to how she intends to deal with the nuns with guns. Being able to peacefully dissipate into Echidna's realm is probably one of the best endings someone could get in 40k, RIP Rhamiel.

Grant

going back through from the beginning, I didn't realize Echidna was a creation of Tzeentch, considering he himself plucked the eldritch flesh from below the golden throne, and pulled her from purgatory to the 40k Universe. Why her specifically? Why would tzeencth create another anathema?

You know if Echidna is afraid of being worshiped by the eldar for saving them she could take to opportunity to rescue Isha during the plague wars when the big E goes to burn nurgle's garden. The entire eldar race be loyal to or at least ally with her for saving them AND their goddess. Isha would be a great source of knowledge for Echidna to learn from and would give the eldar someone to worship other then her, its a win-win-win and a big victory against chaos to top it off.

U know, echidna talking about her soul purifying the warp to pre war in heaven times had me thinking what if an old one showed up at some point. Maybe they're a corrupted husk or preserved how they were before the necrons but if you introduce one at some point in the story then things are gonna blowup I imagine. Like second war in heaven stuff.

P3t1

Well, not she specifically, but the energy that made up his soul is now floating there in her mini not-Warp.

Grant

What does it mean she let him dissipate into her realm? Like she absorbed his soul energy? It would be neat to have a pocket greyknight.

P3t1

Seen it, cool stuff.

Also when Echidna gets around to meeting Belisarius Cawl she might want to check out his boy Alpha Primus. Recent lore suggests Primus is not actually a prototype primaris of mixed gene-seed but the results of Cawl’s attempt to create his own Primarch. It’s also been revealed that Primus is in fact Cawl’s own BIOLOGICAL SON!!!!! For more info on this check out the link to a lore video I’ll include below. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E_KtplcDsx8

Oh, I like this.

In the grimdark future of 40k, there is only hope. -Echidna, Anathema of the Demons. 😜

While Echidna might not like Zealots I happen to know of a certain reasonable Zealot who she might come to actually like. That would be Guilliman’s Militant-Apostolic during the Plague War, dear Frater Mathieu. He actually cares about the people around him and cares for the poor and downtrodden in a way reminiscent of what a true Christian priest is supposed to be. For a certain view on Mathieu check out the YouTube song link I’m including down below (check the song description under the “more” tab). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mAVb3p0Y2uU&list=PLrq-cfpmZS6Z-EQVD7zegIukaWqbGb7d3&index=2&pp=iAQB8AUB

Cypha

Ehh they kinda had a nice talk. I somehow expected her maybe recruiting him. At least some of the grey knight attitude seems quite reasonable in this universe. :)
