The thing is, whatever spawns during the Crisis is usually much worse than the Outsiders themselves. "Usually" being the key word here.

That's not too unexpected to hear they would want to kill Marcus. Although, I feel it's pretty silly they think they can use Marcus to combat the Crisis and then kill him afterwards, as if it'll be somehow easier. He'll only be stronger, even if he loses strength from fighting the Crisis he would still have had the chance to make stronger minions from newly acquired creatures. However, using him to combat the Crisis is pretty smart.
