Many hybrid creatures were illegally grown without the permission of the King or Moon Warden and would later infest the earth after ENKI released them from their enclosures defying the order to exterminate them.
Originally crafted to be Palace guardians and bedwarmers for the WYRM royals; they earned a more prestigious designation after their high clairvoyance was discovered and was put to use in WYRM expansion. Sphinxes are highly intelligent but their bestial nature is still very active, after an enlightening discussion of philosophy they will end with eating your entrails.

Also it might just be me but does the SPHINX have a little of ISHTAR's visage there? Surely not even ENKI would mix Royal blood with his creations.

Huge fan of ENKI and his creative endeavours. The mad scientist archetype is my favourite - always tinkering, moulding his creations to perfection. Sounds like he's got a little too much of a kind heart for his hybrids (whatever the WYRM version of "kindness" is). I always get like five questions pop up when I see a new lore post and have to try and pick the best one. So EDEN biolabs, what's their deal? I remember the Tumblr ask where CAIN and ABEL were the prime human fruit of their endeavours but I wonder what else goes on under their silver domes...
