A Night with Mr. Blacke - Expanded [Full Release]
🕑 Added 2021-12-06 11:58:55 +0000 UTCI'm a bit late with this, but as promised, here is the expanded version of 'A Night with Mr. Blacke'!. It was a good way to practice and familiarize myself with the program I'm using and planning to use for future VNs.
Here are the list of features and differences of this version compared to the original:
- Dialogue choices - Most dialogue choices with Mr. Blacke should let you have 2-3 options now that will influence whether or not you'll get the...
- Alternate CG scene- Based on your decisions, you may be able to put Mr. Blacke in a more submissive position. Written by Rocky Hudson ( https://twitter.com/RockHardHudson )
- New music track - A new track made by Tennet for the alternate CG scene. It's a reprise of the Skye Tower theme!
- Config menu - I found a way to implement an options menu that allows you to control the volume of the music and sound effects (including muting them), as well as the text speed.
- Auto mode button - A button that allows you to skip through all text you've already read all the way to the next set of dialogue choices. Useful for trying to get the alternate CG. A setting in the options menu also allows you to skip through even unread text.
- Hide UI button - A button to simply hide the text HUD. For if you want to take a look at a sprite or the CG art closely.
- Text Backlog button - A button that opens the backlog, showing a history of all the text that has been written so far. In case you accidentally advance the text and want to re-read what was said.
- Button design changes - This is more of a difference than a feature. I made this change as this design was the only one available to the Mac versions, so it was done for consistency between versions. I might opt not to do the same for future projects.
A lot of these are features that are to be expected from any VN that I've only now been able to implement. Outside of the QoL features, there is not much significantly different from the old version past the new CG scene. I'll make sure that these QoL features are present in all future projects (including the next one I'm planning to announce soon.)
As explained previously, given that this is just an expanded version with several touch ups I wasn't able to add in the original, I will be releasing this build as the free public build on our Itch.io page that I had promised to release later today. This will not be the case with future projects, and I intend to keep my promise of releasing full builds to patrons 1 month earlier and test builds to Patreon exclusively.
To play the game, please extract the .zip file into any directory that you wish, then run the 'A Night with Mr. Blacke.exe' inside the folder to play the game. Currently this may only be played on 64-bit Windows PCs. I'll try to release the Mac version tomorrow, as well as a 32-bit Windows version if it's necessary.

Okay, am I just blind? oO Because I can't find that new options menu you mentioned, the one that opens up for me looks exactly the same as before
I wanted to start off a bit more conservative with the content of 'ANwMB' as it was my first project and my foot in the door for Patreon. So my goal was for something most people could enjoy while still sticking to my own personal interests. Future projects might be risque though, given that I have more freedom to explore now, and also depending on anyone I collab with.
Love the alternative. Surprised I didn't get it the first time, choosing the less timid options. I hope we get a part 2, or the morning after. I'd love to see my new big baby fill the backside, and pacify himself on me.
