WOLF WAR - Deformities & The Sad Sickness

They willingly accepted their low status in the pack as an impure strain. Like a stray dog being taken in by a wolfpack they are welcome but are not equal. Their juggernaut quality is indispensable in breaking Hessian bunkers.
THE SAD SICKNESS - Hessian frontline battle reports corroborate with scouts behind enemy lines: A plague has hit the wolf hordes, but not a sickness of the bio-matter but one of the spirit spark. Hessian skirmishers have found packs of wolf forms with claws clasped in prayer, often on their knees or prostrating. The Hess soldiers would kill them on the spot with no resistance given, they simply give their necks up. This disgusted the Hessians more than anything.
Infernal overseers see potential for biowarfare and have ordered prisoners taken from the depressed mongrels. They plan on alchemizing a sadness nerve gas to inject directly into the GARM epicenter. They believe demoralized werewolves will be easy pickings.

The Sad Sickness begun when the first werewolf reverted to his human shape and grieved the murder of his own family by his beast half. That pain and hate created by the human spirit reverberates down through all hybrids overtaken by the CANIS berserker bloodlust. This energy is in direct opposition by LYCAON who was a cannibal kin killer long before he was CANIS corrupted. He revels in the beast programming and wants to delete Theiss who he sees as an anomaly and threat to his plans (there are two wolves inside you) Geri/Freki wish to contain the GARM, retrieve a select few and destroy all remnant strains deemed too deluded. LYCAON seeks to break out of the Hessian war matrix and elude the Aesir hounds to lead his own Pack of Hellhounds. Kitsune may be present in LYCAON’S court in the deep down. He is trying to create new breeds to delude the Aesir’s pure GARM program.

What is the basis of the Sad Sickness? Their behavior seemed suspicious to me at first, that GARM/LYCAON was planning to penetrate even larger territories in this way, beyond the training program of the Hessian soldiers. Could CANIS become werefoxes, which could also have a special place in the Kami pantheon?
