Lighter Props vs. Heavier Props

I have some cyclone that I mean to try. I just stuck the KK on there to test the point that lighter props would be faster. I do think the KK are superior to the DYS for what it's worth.

Probably worth noting that that prop design is not very good, especially not for speed. The DYS version I tested were pretty bad. Still, if the motor can't handle the weight of the prop the speed goes away there too as it can't sustain the high RPM. I highly suggest you get some DAL Cyclone V2 (T5046C) and then you won't fly these KK anymore ;)

Its hard to get a sense of prop performance for racing when carrying around 70g+ of GoPro. Would love to see DVR instead. Hold on to your hats!

Yeah, I agree that the type of course really matters when deciding on a power system.

Nice!

Very nice you were definitely carrying a lot of speed throughout...

Im using kingkong triblades 5045 v2 and 5040 nylon over 30 hours and my results not im test in feeling is nylon is better because feels faster , more reactive and i can fly more time. My opinion has been always to be faster in curves. If you are faster getting in and out from curves you can win. Im talking about a normal circuit sharing straighs and curves, on high speeds not, you will just fly more😂😂

There was a time when HQ was absolutely the best tri-blade 5" prop out there. They are still very good because they are stiff and light but they are more chosen by freestyle pilots than racers I think.

Why hq props are first choice of many pilots out there? So far i didnt try any hq prop just kingkong 5x4x3 :)

Man. That was fast. On my ShenDrones Full Tilt Boogie L im running 2204 Cobras and 5045 HQ bullnose. Those props are very old school and take branches OK unless they get hit hard then they break at the base. I couldn't t say no for this build because the props are 1 dollar a pair on StoneBlur Airlines so I stocked up. Anyway, my point is that at the lowest tilt which is like 35 or so degrees this darn thing flies much like in this video. Really I would need it at 40 plus degrees of tilt to hold a full throttle in a straight for more than a few seconds. The build is so light even with the GoPro4 I had no desire to upgrade the motors. It only draws like 86 amps max. I did cut the bottom of the TPU for the FPV camera to lower it to 25 degrees so I can freestyle in tight quarters with it. It was too fast for me at 35 degrees in a new area with palm trees all over. I just have to use hot glue to hold the FPV camera in place now but at least I'll get more use out the the copter for freestyle.
